Got myself an HP. What kind? Let's see. It's um... pretty and white, with little pretty swirlys on it? Which was really my deciding factor. I don't know much about computers, only that I wanted 3-4GB with at least 320GB hard drive. I don't use it for anything except school, surfing the web, and playing with pictures, so plenty enough for me at $650 w/ tax.

Michele- HPs have been known to have their issues. Having said that, I've got an HP that is about a year and a half old that is still going strong! But, I don't use it as much as my desktop or netbook.

True. I could search it out, but it's probably not important. I think I read an article that showed HPs had the highest defect rate. Though I don't think it was substantially higher than the other brands. Like I said, mine is still kicking (dv3 for the record).

Your model (dv4-2145dx). Mine has a remote too! Sadly, it doesn't function in linux. I've messed with it a bit, but it wasn't worth the effort needed to get it up and running me thinks.
