There was a thread going for awhile about tyler putting it on his car and he eventually reached a wall when he realized he didn't have all the stuff. Then no one heard anything from him and a couple days later someone found his car on ebay saying it was turboed but he was just trying to rip people off because he never installed the turbo.

here's the scoop... Fox Marketing made 2 promotion cars for the Nissan Versa. one of them was turbo while the other one was not. i have the non-turbo V. the other was crushed by nissan. believe me... i went and talked to the guy myself. i called him and asked him about the cars.

What do you mean "crushed"? As in Nissan took the car and destroyed it?

yeah. i know i know! since no one makes an aftermarket clutch for the versa, they tried to make one, but couldn't... so the clutch kept slipping out every time you hit the gas!! so they took it to a junk yard and crushed it. i was gonna get all the parts for it too!

Supposedly the turbo kit was removed before any of that though and sold to tyler_ofspain. I know FM had posted it for sale on this forum a couple times.

Yeah. What I don't get is how did tyler try ripping them off. I mean...Bryan Fox said he was shipping EVERYTHING.The car wouldn't work if all the parts weren't there...and I though his car was working...how would he move it places?

um...yeah I wonder if anyone ever bought it. did anyone watch that auction?you can check myebay and see if someone bought it and message them and see how it is now.

TO EVERYBODY WHO IS WONDERING WHAT HAPPENED TO THE TURBO KIT!!!!!

Yes I bought it and it is installed on my V... Right after i bought the kit my dad wanted me to sell my car... so i rushed to install the kit on my car before i sold it... it was going to be a completed turbo versa for sale... As soon as i put the kit on my car, my grandma died and i had to drive to pheonix for her funeral... unfortunately the car was not ready to be driven and i blew the motor on the way back... the worlds only turbo versa is sitting in my driveway waiting for a new motor... if someone is interested in buying the kit i was considering selling the kit and reverting it back to a stock motor... i can get pictures of the installed kit if you guys are interested

Unfortunately saw this coming. That kit will not be ready without someone figuring out the ECU/Injectors/etc on the car. Good luck though.

Agreed. Slapping a turbo on a 1.8 liter engine without any other modifications whatsoever is about the stupidest thing you can do. Think about it. An engine that would normally last past 200,000 miles blew up on a simple trip. I would have felt sorry for the person who paid for that Versa.

To everyone wanting to turbo an econocar, GET A REAL CAR OR PROPERLY BUILD THE ENGINE FIRST. CARS TURBOED FROM THE FACTORY DONT RANDOMLY EXPLODE BECAUSE THE ENGINE WAS BUILT FOR IT.

shut up, guys...gosh any car can be whatever you want it to be regardless of what they were ORIGINALLY built for.History is more than welcome to slap you in the face in order to show you. (Yes, of course bad things like blown engines have happened, but good things have also bared fruit.)

The MR18DE is a decent engine and I think with time, people will get some decent power out of it. It's not really that different from other basic 4 cylinder beater motors. 4 cylinder, DOHC, VVT, you may know it as VTEC. So yeah, its off to a slow start but it can be boosted. After all, its already been done. Internals won't last long at all with anything over 8psi I would imagine. What did the guys at FM do inside?

listen guys... FM did the turbo and i talked to him personally... he said you didn't need any engine management or anythung! the only reason it didn't work was because the stock clutch kept slipping out! the only problem was the stock clutch!

That is rediculous. There had to be some changes (injectors/computer/piggyback) to get that hp they claimed. To think that anyone can slap a turbo on a completely stock engine and get 100hp+ out of it is absurd, much less a stock 1.8L.

of course he changed out SOME parts, but he told me that it didn't need any fuel management... his exact words...

Can't be right. Unless it was only running 3-4psi of boost. And with the hp claimed, that's not possible.

HEY EVERYONE!

It's been a long time since i've been on here and i know most of you don't care about this turbo stuff anymore but i've been doing a lot of work on my car lately and i went back and checked out the turbo kit...

So! everyone keeps saying it is a terrible idea to turbo the mr18de motor... I am now back here to Disagree!!!!! After messing around with everything, my motor is still in perfect condition... I actually blew the turbo, not my motor... I made it up to 12lbs of boost and my motor is still fine, no clutch slip, nothing blown up... just a bad turbo..

just figured i'd let all of you know... it is still possible!!!!

Hey dude, long time no see.

I have a quick question for you. If you EVER get the time, come up to Denver and come to some of the car meets we have up here! I know it's a long drive for you and all, but that would be awesome.

There is this website dedicated to Colorado Nissan/Infinite Owners. I'm not sure if you been to it before, it's pretty new. In Lakewood, a local meet will take place at an Old Chicago on March 21st, which is a Saturday. There is suppose to be 20 people showing up or so.

It's free to register, and you can post in the forums and stuff. Here's the link...

That's cool man. I met up with some people at a local Sonic here in Westminster a couple weeks ago, raced a 240sx and a few other cars on a stock engine. Unfortunately, there aren't many Versa enthusiasts around here. Anyways...definitely register and talk amongst your fellow owners!

Don't tell me you're the one that purchased the turbo kit? Ever think about selling, let me know.
