From what i get out of this... You are between a G37 coupe... NOT THE S and a G35 Sedan with the S

I would go with the Sedan becasue of the S...

And you def need to get the 6MT it is Better on MPG's and it is Faster!

That is what i have and love it. If you drive it nice you get 24-26mpg and at 4 bux a gallon that is what really matters.

I vote Sedan... But think of the ease of entrence and exit when you are doing things in the back seat...

I have driven the 2008 G37 Sports Coupe and the 2007/2008 G-35 Sedan. Both are fast cars. G-37 backseat space will make you cringe--it is a prison back there. As far as I am concerned, the G-35 Sedan is more responsive on acceleration than the G-37 Sports coupe--of course, this is on the low end of the RPM range. On the high end, above 4,500 RPM, the G-37 Sports coupe comes alive like a monster with so much power that seems endless/limitless, which feels very strange for a regular street car. This phenomenon they say, is caused by the "swirl" technology. Both the Sedan and the coupe wil make a distinct noise when the swirl technology kickes in. No car should ever feel like its power band is limitless or else the driver could easily hit 130 miles per hour without even knowing it---this means lots of tickets and hassle by the cops.

As for the Sedan, the trunk space is as big as a grave yard. You can bury a person there and no one wil ever know. It also looks great if you drop it an inch, give it Stillen TD exhausts, and then give it some really nice front spoilers---it really looks sick this way.

Both are great cars but the G-37 Coupe costs a little lot more than the G-35 Sedan. Look into your crystal ball, meditate, and the truth will reveal itself to you, on what you must do.

Since you live in Texas, you don't need the all wheel drive of the G35X. If you plan to buy new, that leaves the G35 sedan versus the G37 coupe. If used, there is also the G35 coupe. In my opinion, the G37 is a significantly better car than the G35 coupe.

There is more space in the sedan as well as more doors. Do you need the extra space, or not? If you don't need the back seat for passengers, you can get a surprising amount of stuff into the coupe. If I had to fuss with child seats, the convenience of back doors would make choosing the sedan a no brainer.

Sedans and coupes are close enough in power and weight that performance and handling are very close.

What kind of transmission do you want? That will eliminate some models. A car with an automatic will be slower than one with a manual.

Coupes are somewhat more expensive than sedans, but a loaded sedan will cost more than a stripped coupe. Therefore, you need to think carefully about options and limit yourself to the ones that really make a difference.

My car is a G37S. For options, I chose the Premium Package for the seat memories, the Navigation Package for the rear view camera, and the splash guards to protect the rocker panels and rear fenders. Others may disagree, but I don't like the adaptive cruise control that is part of the Technology Package or the way the 4-Wheel Active Steering affects handling.

Did you add enough gadgets Mr. Jetson?

To the OP:

Go drive them all. Get an auto out of your system. The 07/08 picks up, but the lag while the engine revs is annoying. Make sure you remember how to drive stick or the dealer will laugh at you and take the car away from you.

The more I think about it I deem the sedan more practical, age is a factor for my insurance and I guarantee they'll say it's a sports car. Hello high insurance!

After more thought (about 30 seconds into watching FoxNews) I really think I'm gonna go for the G35. I just don't see the other $4,000 feasible because I'm so young. If I really wanted to I could-- but I'm wanting to save some of my money for my future. Plus if I get the G35 I will have about 2/3k left over for mod money

P.s. I haven't been on this forum even a week and I have already heard about your '58 Ford about 20 times haha. I believe you're the only person on here I actually remember by name.

I'm getting a 6 speed without a doubt. I'm just in a bit of a pickle cause they're both such astounding cars. Another downfall is because I'm 17 dealers don't take me seriously and won't let me test-drive. I'll go with mommy this week and make up my mind. Thanks to everyone for your perspective.

You are one lucky 17 year old. I'm not so sure that is the correct vehicle for a seventeen year old to learn not only driving a stick but gaining experience in how a vehicle handles in all kind of weather. I hope you are a very responsible young man and drive your new G carefully. I also hope your mom makes you pay for it along with the insurance and the gas. Do check for insurance rates prior to purchase and if you can take a driver training course to lower your insurance take it.

Good luck

You call it lucky- I call it free money. I got t-boned in my current car March 4th and am waiting for the insurance settlement money. I will be using that for the car. I am not a pro at driving a stick but I'm driving one now (have been since the wreck and a little here and there before-hand) so I know the gist of it. As far as gas- yes I will be paying for that myself. And the insurance... I told my mom if it went up (which it definitely will), I will pay the difference. So if she's paying $1000 a year for my Jetta and my insurance on the G is $1800 (metaphorically speaking) I will then pay here the $800 difference and we will be even . P.s., I'm one of the safest drivers I know. I always yelled at my neighbor for drifting in his Chevy Colorado and his truck got totaled last month. The fact that I haven't hit anyone or gotten a moving violation in my short driving career proves my safety. Or so I'd like to think

It's not that your an unsafe driver, its the lack of experience. We were all that age once, some A LOT longer ago than others @ telco

Just be safe. I say go for it if you can afford the payments/insurance. It's a much safer car with very good driver/passenger protection.

Yeah I know what you mean. Just last year I had two friends of mine die while trying to drift around a chicane in his new 350Z. Drifted into a tree... big eye-opener.

i'll say this. owning one of these cars is a big responsibility. no one will take you seriously, including the dealer that ends up selling you the car. expect to be d!ck about service. no loaners, etc. if it were me, id go with something cheaper, like an altima coupe, then move up at 21. No sense in paying premium for a G when you cant enjoy all the perks of Infiniti ownership. trust me, ive seen way too many people on forums like these who end up having major accidents because they are too young, unexperienced, or overconfident in their driving abilites for the car. If you do go for one of these cars, we'll all be here to welcome you. If you don't, yet you still want to be a member here, you are still welcome. Im sure im not the only one who thinks this way. Just my two cents.

I'm just set on having the car. I fell in love with it. I've been hinting at it for months to grandma and grandpa, then I got in the wreck (not my fault)...after seeing dollar signs when I woke up I want it even more. I've literally looked for 21 hours on-line for a cheaper alternative but I love the G. Either that or the BMW 1 but even that's iffy. I'm sold, all need now is my money .

haha. quite the trade off. i have never been a big fan of big wheels. 20 is my limit and they only look good on a couple cars. i dont think the G is one of them.

Keep in mind that most vehicles depreciate. Now with the present oil situation some vehicles are going to depreciate more than others. Going with a cheaper vehicle for a 17 yr old makes a lot of sense. When you are 21 the world may be a whole lot different than it is today?

I was in your same situation a while back. Wait for a G37 or get a G35S sedan or a G35 coupe...that was the question.

I went with a G35S, why?

It looks a lot better and has a very organic flow with the body. The curvatures look good on the sedan. If you take a look at the rear bumper on the 1st gen G35 coupes, they have the same curvature that makes them look so sexy...and the 1st gen G35 sedans have the flat look like the G37.

After test-driving the G35 coupe, I realized I hated the interior and it was much slower than the G35S. I have a base model, no package G35S and it saved me a lot of money. With that 3-4k i saved, I put that money into tinting my car, putting a stillen wing, and a JL audio sound system. And its always fun to whoop up on G37's and unmodded G35 coupes. Oh yeah, girls love all G's so don't listen to the coupe guys.

JL Audio sound system? I got a W7 will that fit in a coupe? Hahaha no, but I was planning on getting rid of it anyways. You see- when you have that much bass you get tired of bass in general very quickly. (I listen to it maybe 5-10 minutes a day before I'm tired of it. It is an attention getter though). Just went looking at Altima coupes and, 270hp FWD? Wow what the hell?! That's so stupid. Got a job as a pizza boy so it looks like I'll be keeping my fuel efficient POS and will wonder "what could've been" for a few more months. And it also looks like the new '08 Kawasaki Ninja 250R will be mine before the G .

The car will be yours at some point. the altima coupe is nothing to laugh at. it is just as fast as the old (my) G generation, plus its front wheel drive which is good for some of us who have to deal with snow (ME). id definately be looking at it if i didnt already have my car. My old car was a Cadillac STS. 300HP/300lb Torque and FWD. Let me tell you, that thing was a beast. 0-60 in 6.2. Nuf Said.

be safe and see you around the forums.

Thank you!

I went G35X because I live in CO. We can have 80 degree weather, rain, sleet, 12 in. of snow, wind, hail and tornados all in the same day (i.e. we had most of those today)

I was happy I put out for the AWD this winter when I took my car into work with nice weather and hit 8in. of snow (on the roads alone) that same night. Seeing all those boys stuck on the upward sloping off-ramps made me smile as I drove around them to get home. They also caused everyone to wait an hour in line at the off-ramp because they were stuck... It was a moment right out of a Visa commercial. "Not buying a ricer and being able to maneuver in the snow, priceless!"

EDIT- I just want to add that if I lived in a state that had all one elevation (i.e. Texas!) I think I would've been looking into all options just like northshore though. I'm a product of my environment...
