Car: cars&girls...cut the last part out

Post

Apparently, bout 3hrs ago i was sittin here reading the forum and watching tv. My moms knocks on the door, can you drv me 2 go pick up ur aunt, she left her keys in the car, n she needs 2 go home 2 get the spares. I was lik sure, got nuthing else to do.

long story short.

We pick up my aunt and Im heading back to her house, opps light turns yellow, not enough space 2 brake(unless my non-abs *** chooses to lock-it-up), so whatd i do? Give her alittle gas pass through "LEGALLY." The yellow light turns red right wen my rear passes the x-walk lines. So i go along my ways, like any other day. I notice a car, a car that wasnt there b4 stalking me. I thought 2 myself, no-ways, not for that, thas pretty much legal.Next thing i see, Red & Blue flashies all over.

Im lik no-mother-fawking way. Dude writes it up a moving violation, "failure to stop for a red." IT WASNT EVEN A RED LIGHT!!!

and u guys wanna kno what ticked me off the most?????last thing the fawking pig said: (and i quote directly)"and stop for the yellows too"

:chainsaw

Fight it...you have nothing to lose. Just say that you were through the light when it turned red and that you could not have safely stopped in time.

OMG, that cop should be shot for having nothing else better to do than harrassing people like this...I have stories too, but i was young and dumb and didn't fight for it. You should REALLY go fight for it, like pablo said, you have nothing to lose. Tell us the result.

you should say this..."Under the ground conditions of that night, judging by the speed that i was going, my car's braking powers and the distance if I were to have slammed on my brakes my car would have stopped in the middle of the intersection if not getting runned over by someone else. Under thoes decisions I have decided to speed up and pass under Yellow instead of stopping"

If the ticket cost around $200, get a lawyer. You can't win w/o the lawyer. I had 3 tickets for speeding, accident, and passing on the right shoulder. They were almost $200 so, I bought a laywer for $200 and won. Didn't go in a record.

Fight it.

Tell the judge that your vehicle "was in the intersection" when it was still a yellow light. If the cop denies it or says some other ****, ask him if he's sure that the light was red before your front tires entered the intersection. The cop probably won't lie in the court.

It is very legal to enter the intersection during a yellow light. The vehicle's front tires should cross the intersection line before it's red though.

yeah. and if the cop wasn't behind you when you crossed it then to him he wouldn't know if you ran a red or not...

I hate yellow lights. I truly believe there needs to be sensors a certain distance away from lights, and if a car is in that zone, do NOT turn yellow.

Nothing pisses me off more than being right at that point when the light turns yellow were you can't really stop in time, but if you go, you'll end up hitting the red, too. Sucks.

It's you against the whole system, just hope the cop doesn't show up. He won't admit he's wrong, and honestly no one really knows what happened but you and him, good luck.

You're hosed. Here's why:

Either you weren't paying attention, you were traveling too fast for conditions, or your car can't stop for s***.

One of these three is true.

That said, sorry you got a ticket - that can ruin anyone's day.

p.s. Your title is a little misleading... Rodney "got f**ed up by the police". You simply got a citation. :D

I've read reports of cities decreasing the yellow time to increase tickets, but these were on lights with the cameras installed.

Time the light, compare it against others in a similar speed zone. If it's short you may have a basis if your judge is in a good mood.

Nope. You're definitely screwed. The tickets are revenue. The whole system is a well-oiled machine and it'll chew you up financially to fight it. I'm all for fighting, but unless you have extra $ just sitting around, don't.

It's enough to really get you good and riled, isn't it?

And no AZhitman, i was payin attention(y would i speed with my mom in the car?) , it was a normal winter night up here in NorCal.

The cops down in that specific city, Alemeda, are known too be harder on everything than other bay area cities for sum odd reason.

Don't listen to these nay-sayers. I've had 2 speeding tickets and quite a few warnings, but I've never paid anything. First ticket: Well it was my first ticket, I said I learned my lesson blah blah blah. Second ticket, I denied any wrong doing(and NO I wasn't lying, that cop must've been freakin delirious) and the officer couldn't remember anything when it was his turn to testify, so I got off with nothing. NEVER just pay a ticket, at least you might have a chance of getting off the hook, it's worth a shot. Oh except my illegal window tint ticket, can't really dispute that one since I knew it was illegal to start with. :)

Does it cost for anyone here to appeal tickets? 'Cause it doesn't cost where I live and so there is absolutly no reason not to.

My advice for tickets is as follows. (This is from ALOT of experience) unless it is a speeding ticket, FIGHT IT!!!! And if the ticket is 5 miles over or less, fight that too! And just to boost your confidence a little here's a little story for ya. On Tuesday I went to court with my lawyer (yes I have a lawyer, too many tickets will do that to ya) This ticket was for 2 citations. Exibition of speed and reckless driving. Just incase you didn't know, both are moving violations and both go on your record. Reckless driving (if convicted) will send you to jail for a minimum of 5 day and a maximum of I think 30 (this is all in KS). So I call my lawyer up and he sets up a court date. I go to court last tuesday and end up getting the exibition of speed dropped completely and the reckless dropped to inattentive driving, wich is a non-moving violation and doesn't go on my record. All in all it cost me $300 for the lawyer and $102 for the ticket and court costs. I can GAURENTEE you that had that gone on my record, I would have paid A LOT more than that in the long run. And that was the 2nd wreckless driving that I have gotten out of. (I got caught doing 109 in a 70 for the first one, the second one I did a 180 in an empty parking lot at 1am on a sunday night) I also have been ticketed for "running a yellow light" wich is when you do actually make it through the intersection, but the cop thinks that you sped up to make it. But I got out of that one completely. The cop didn't show up for the trial and it was dissmissed. Unfortunately, you're pretty much stuck with the speeding tickets. Anything else, it can't hurt to fight it.

If you go to court to fight the ticket, talk to the prosecutor. You'll probably get the points reduced, but the fine may go up or down depending. But at least your situation isn't as bs as someone I know. He got pulled over for running a red light...ON HIS BICYCLE!!!! That's right, he was on his bike crossing an intersection going from one sidewalk to the next, so he wasn't even on the road. Cop pulls him over and he get's hit with a $170 ticket and points on his DRIVERS license when he wasn't even in a car. It's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard, I didn't believe it myself until I talked to the judge in my town (he's the father of one of my friends). What's even worse is that when he went to fight it, he was told that it was up to the officer's discretion and he had to pay the fine and take the points. I think he was going to appeal, but I don't know what happend. This is why crime can be a good thing..it'll keep these cops busy and prevent stupid crap like this.

If grandma is right next to you doing a 100, obviously shows your not obeying the speed limit :D

I once got a ticket 71 in 35, I passed the cop, saw him turn around and kept going, I was gonna try and make a run for it cause it was a pretty curvy road and he was a good little distance, but some slow jackass pulled out in front of me, then while I was pulled over some guy slammed his brakes to stop for a bus and ended up in the ditch, It was hilarous, cop was like "hold on" walked over to the guy and was like come up here and wait in line.

As for driving school, it sux ***, do what I did, sleep.

Lost_To_A_K-Car wrote:Bicycles are required to obey the exact same rules of the road as cars. The fact that your friend was cited is only surprising in that a cop actually decided to enforce the law.

Check the local papers a week or so before your friend got the ticket. The odds are good that some tool on a bicycle got crushed by a semi (or something), and the police were being strict in response to that.

That's certainly true, but the cop in question is well known in our town to be a jerk. He's been know to pull his gun on kids (keep in mind that often cops are taught when the gun is out of the holster, the intent exists to shoot/kill), he's been convicted of rape, and has sexually harasses women during traffic stops, the list goes on. It's a real mystery as to why he's still allowed to be a cop, but the residents are petitioning to have him relieved of his duties.
