I was reading a thread on the MSM boards about their downpipe, and she (Stephanie) got in a pissing match with ANOTHER customer IN THE THREAD. Aside from the fact that the dude had his facts in order, she still kept at it, until the OP came in and asked them to "take it elsewhere."

She sounds like a real A-hole.

I have many cars, none of them from this forum though, sorry. :chuckle:

I still have a 3 Miatas one normally aspirated, one supercharged and one factory turbo, a Z06 Corvette, the wife drives an STi and now owns a BMW M3 track car also.

I learned the hard way many years ago not to count on BEGI for product that fits. The thing about it is they claim their strong suit is that they build custom products and yet they can't produce something that fits when it's not even custom. I made the "mistake" of upgrading my intercooler on the system I bought from them and after 4 attempts for them to provide the correct output pipe for the intercooler that they made too I gave up and took the one that fit the closest and bridged the gap with a slightly longer silicone coupler. As for the heat shield, I had 2 or 3 different versions from them and none never fit, not to mention the fact that it took me awhile to figure out why I constantly heard a whistle and then discovered they had drilled and tapped a hold for the heatshield complete into the manifold so without a heatshield you ended up venting exhaust toward the hood.

^^ That one is a really good read.
I'm amazed that their company can stay in business. One could seriously make a kit that includes the fixes for their perfect kit. Like James, I'd of been pissed to receive hoses to short, wrong plumbing, and an off center intercooler. Whether porky is knowledgeable or not doesn't imply that he has any sense of business (or ethical) standards.

That is quite the fleet!! What's your favorite?
Don't worry about now owning a Nissan/infiniti here... a lot of us don't anymore.

And yeah, I don't even really post on the m net anymore, simply because people from BEGi are such epic trolls, they ruin the entire experience. I'd post something trying to get ideas for how to fix some garbage that Corky sent, and they'd come on and s*** all over my thread telling me I did something wrong, or that was the way it was supposed to be, or what I'd be doing was against the law in Hadgbackastan and they were going to call the cops on me, etc.

My current favorite has to be the Z06 but it has not been reliable at all which makes me sad.

Stephanie has the ability to lie in such a way that she actually thinks she is right no matter what. She was a sponsor on the Mazda-Speed MX5 forum for years and if anyone said anything bad about them she tried to edit it out or lie about it and if a mod spoke out about them she would cry to the forum owner that she was a vendor and moderators should say anything about them on the forum.
BTW, they are no longer vendors on M.net either. Times must be tough.

You asked for pictures. If I'm out of line here please edit the post or even delete it.

This was my first Miata when it was much younger. It's a 1991 with an upgraded suspension/intake and header and exhaust. It's a fun track/autocross car.

Image

Image

This was my wife's car when I met her. It was a 1992 with suspension upgrades. We no longer own it and it was the car that had the BEGI turbo system on it.

Image

This was the car my wife started driving on the track and street. It has suspension and a supercharger. We still own it.

Image

This is the 2004 MSM which has the factory turbo. It has some engine mods and minor suspension changes

Image

This is the wife's daily driver and was her track car until June of this year. It's a 2006 Subaru STi with significant suspension mods and some engine mods.

Image

This is my current track toy when I was buying it. No readily available on the track pictures. It's a 2008 Z06 Corvette that runs full Continental slicks on the track and is otherwise stock

Image

This is the wife's current track car. A very modified 1995 BMW M3

Image

We have a few support vehicles around including the 2002 Silverado Crew Cab Dually that tows the trailer and the 2009 Chevy HHR that serves as the gas run vehicle

Then we also have the trailer we use to tow the cars to the track. It was built for 2 Miatas and support gear so a M3 and a Z06 are tricky to load but I've made it work

Image

As you can tell we are car people and both are PCA certified instructors. I've had the privilege of riding in the instructors seat for some 350Z and 370Z students and a G37 in the past and have enjoyed the experience.

..and yet BEGi somehow still have their fanboys.

Perhaps they need to be reminded that only one of the people in that company / customer relationship is an engineer for an OEM. :)

I'll have to look for that thread about the downpipe. After reading Stephanie's wise-arse comments and her blatant disrespect for the customer, there's no way in hell I'd send them my money. I'll give up a few hp for something from FM that fits perfectly.

Hey SC, love the fleet! I have the twin to your MSM. Might want to pick your brain here (or there) if you don't mind. :)

I've owned a C5 with C6 Z06 suspension, a supercharged G Coupe, and a ton of other cars, but this is my first foray into Miataland.

Amazing, huh??

Stay away from the SG DP from them. Almost no one gets it to fit without reworking it. One of the most common recurring problems is the mounting location of the rear O2 sensor. It usually is set so it hits the tranny. You would think after the first complaint you could remember to move the location somewhere else but hasn't been the case.

Send me a PM or an Email over on MSM any time.

That's an awesome fleet man. Thanks for the pics!!

I had to significantly rework the downpipe so it didn't come loose, and didn't rattle. And by rework I mean cut and weld... a lot.

BEGIs DPs have never been a work of art. FM makes a DP that fits. BEGI does things like slip joints and flex joints to allow for the fact that theirs never seem to clear the chassis. I always had issues with my DP too until the slip joint rusted solid and it stayed in place.

Looking forward to swapping mine for the FM.

So far, I have most of the FM Little Enchilada kit. IC installed already, intake kit arriving tomorrow or Monday. Already has a Magnaflow catback (which I'll be keeping). Downpipe should finish it off nicely.

Does FM utilize the factory tie-down mounting locations for the intercooler like BEGi does?

I've always wondered what people strap down to when they go to the dyno if they remove those tie-downs.

I don't have the FM I/C, eBay special for me, but I don't think so. But that said most Miatas don't have those teeth left anyway everyone takes them off. Every dyno pull I've done on any 2 wheel drive car we tied the front end down with wheel straps

Yeah. A bunch of the FM guys used to work for Bell. Evidently the dude was such a crazed ***hole, they left and spun off their own (better) company.

Got the Little Enchilada kit about halfway installed on my MSM.

The FM butterfly brace is a work of art, and HOLY SMOKE it makes the car feel like a kart.

Not figuratively - literally.

FM makes good stuff. I kinda wish their whole business mantra spread to other platforms. Dedicated people for dedicated platforms that just get it right.
