I joined the Q-Ship league yesterday. I am so excited!!

I bought a 1990 Q45 Black on Grey Leather Interior. 158k miles....I am sure some of you have seen it on E-bay it had over 1000 views...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISA...62608

If anyone could run a carfax on it for me That would be great! Might tell me if odometer was messed with.

Thanks!!

That's THE Q I've been looking for. It's absolutely beautiful. And you paid WHAT for it?

You SUCK!

If it were mine, I'd black out the door handles and Q45 badge.

Actually, you should now (and really before) obtain the Infiniti Dealer performed service history.

Register your self as the owner with Infiniti customer service, and give them a few days to pull them out of the archives. A friendly service can be a great help in getting a print out.

Now after reading the articles, go read all posts by Q45tech. Yeah, it will take a couple of months, but you will know more than 99% of the service writers. Earmark about $6K for your deferred maintenance fund, especially if the guides are original.

Exactly what I wanted to do with the dealer. Can i register at any dealer with the VIN? Are the computers networked like that?

Sorry to say, but I believe this is the same ebay-er that was offering the burgundy one that has listed several times and even "sold" a couple of times.

Assuming it runs (guides okay) and the transmission isn't toast, replace the guides before ever driving. I know that sounds harsh, but too many have lost motors to deferred guide replacement.

I like the color combo, and if it's anything close to "decent/good shape" with guides done, you got a great deal.

Welcome to NICO.

Infiniti has archived a lot of the service records and my local dealership was no help at all. I had to register online with Customer Relations and then email a request from their web site to get the service history. A gal from the corporate office called me a few days later and read it to me over the phone. She said I couldn't get a hard copy. Maybe you'll have better luck with your local dealer.

While your saving up for those new rims I have 4 pie pan center caps in great shape that I will give you for little more than the price of shipping. I couldn't get rid of them in the NICO classifieds and you can't even bake a pie in them but I saved them anyway knowing they would be of use some day. Your car might as well look good until you can get new rims. E-mail me if you're interested.

Start reading old posts and within a few months you'll understand most everything about your Q. Enjoy the ride.

Welcome to Nico! I bid on that car! I think neautoauction pulls Q's out of their rear because they have 3 or 4 for sale at all times on eBay. You've got a nice car there so be sure to protect your investment by checking the guides(neautoauction said they had no idea about the guides being changed when I ask them). There's allot to check as a Q owner, so just do it one thing at a time and enjoy...

Welcome to the maintenance fun. When you go to have those timing chain guides done do only the guides and the oil pump chain. Don't bother with the changing of the chains unless your really anal. It's not worth the extra dollars. You can re-seal the valve covers with import grey gasket sealer if their leaking oil. Start reading the posts and if you would like I have multiple documents on notes I have saved over the years from the Yahoo club. I trust you have the thick service manual?

The pump is probably fine. You'll want to replace the oil pump chain though.

The first description of the car has the actual miles in the ad. The second one (generic looking) that says 94K is for a 93Q. He probably got his Qs.... mixed up.

Welcome to the world of power. Get ready to spend some well worth $ and enjoy the ride!

There is a gentleman selling a ecu for a 1992 q (no options like my 1990). I want the Mad Max MOD!!!

He is also selling the Fuel Pump Controller. I thought you only need this if you have a fuel pump that is going bad and it fries you existing one.

The Fule Pump Controller isn't needed for the ECU upgrade correct?

No it's not needed for an ECU upgrade. What kind of ECU upgrade are we talking? JWT ECU, Robert Bowen/NICO ECU or just a different year ECU. If it's just a different year ECU then don't do it. Nothing to gain.

OK nevermind I saw the other thread. Your getting the RB/NICO ECU...

Congratulations! I am partial to that color combination... Q1 - recently departed, and my current Q are both identical. I actually saw that one on eBay last night and thought it looked pretty decent. If the guides haven't been done - you absolutely are overdue. Mine cratered at 120K on Q1. Made such a believer out of me I replaced the ones on Q2 at 47K!

Let me know if there's anything I can do to help...

Scranton, PA has a huge car auction(s) there. That's where I got my Q from. Neautoauction I'm sure is still making money, but you still got a great deal. I paid way to much for my Q but 2+ years later all I have done is put oil and gas in it. I'm hoping to do a bunch of deferred maintenance this summer. Welcome to NICO!

Alright,I picked up the Q yesterday (6-3-2006).

Problems:AC/Heat Do not work!Needs fuel filter and maybe knock sensors...

Question:Is is really possible for BOTH the Heat and AC to not work? (display lights up and fan works fine)Would this be some kind of control module?

Pics to Follow!

Yes, if it is the mixer door.

What does the Infiniti Dealer performed service history tell you?

do I just register the VIN at the local Infiniti Dealer?

What is the best way to go about this?

Welcome to NICO, and congrats on the recent purchase.

It does sound like the damper on the A/C system. Check fuses, wiring, and listen for the door to make noise when you swithc from defrost to vents to floor.

Call Infiniti and give them the VIN number. They were very helpful on both my Q's. You might get some help from the local Infiniti dealership.

You need a FSM. It is about 900+ pages and covers just about everything on the car. Great troubleshooting section.

Don't worry about hot rodding, until you have the guides done and the broken stuff fixed.

Browse the for sale section for people parting out cars. There are usually a bunch.

Post some pictures in the Member's Ride section.

The mixer door is not particularly common on the 90-93 Q... more with the "upgraded" plastic actuator rod on the 94-96.

By "doesn't work" what do you mean? Fan doesn't come on? Air isn't either hot or cold? No air coming out of vents?
