Hey everyone,

The swap is moving along nicely. The KaE is out of my 1990 240sx fastback and im waiting on the wiring harness to be done (sent it to Yury) to put it in. I have a couple of questions though:

1. What size are the SR20 Transmission bolts that connect it to the motor? The KA transmission bolts are too small.

2. What is the best kind of oil to use in the SR20DET that isnt rediculously expensive?

3. Is it easy to swap out the turbos for when I upgrade or should i do this now?

4. The front bumper i have (pictured in my signature) doesnt look like its capable of supporting an aftermarket intercooler without mods-- does anyone have any good links to reasonably priced nice looking front bumpers? Pref. one that shows off the IC a little more?

5. I dont want to be limited powerwise by a crappy intercooler, and a lot of people are telling me to stay away from greddy. What is a good one that will be capable of supporting 400-450hp without problem should i decide to aim for that range?

Thats all. Thanks everyone for helping out before!

Nick

-There are 3 different sized bolts that you attach the transmission with, should have come with your motorset. Dont know any of the measurments off hand.

-Mobil one synth 0w-40 wint 15w-50 summer. Get it cheap online somewhere.

-Easier to do with motor out, not impossible with motor in either.

-Just cut up your stock bumper. Cheap and doesnt look cheasy like an aftermarket bumper.

-Greddy's fine (in my opinion), 95% of people run intercoolers that are way overkill.

If you dont want to go with Greddy, you can go with Blitz i have the LM Blitz intercooler kit. Its more expensive about 2200 $ canadian and HKS is good to but you will be paying more money.

Thanks guys,

Where can i find some bumpers? I need a good link or brand to look out for that not gaudy or rice. I hate the stock one. Also what do you guys think looks best, silvia s13 front end or just stock flipups for a HATCHBACK? Ive seen cool ones of both but id justl ike to get a general census of what ppl prefer. thanks

Main trans bolts should be M12x1.5 course thread I believe.

You'll need to take the KA bolts for length comparison.

i have the greddy spec v front mount and i have had no problems with it. i also run mobil one oil. swapping turbos can be done anytime, it is easier when it out of the car. do it now or later? depends on your goals, and the shape of the stock turbo. just search for bumpers on google, and you should find somewhere that sells them. or look in one of the magazines for links. i agree with j-spec most intercoolers that people have are overkill

A s15 front conversion would be interesting not many of them around but you will pay alot more $ for it. Bomex makes good front bumpers for the 240sx and S13 http://www.bomexaero.com/bomexusa.html they arnt too expensive either and most of them are tefflon coated or somthing to give them extra strength. I am not sure what they use, anyone know? Its not heat treatment, they do that to them but they use some type of spray. You can get a nice front bumper for maybe 330-360 USD. Hope this helps

I do like the s15 conversion but thats just too expensive. Id sure hate to get my car stolen, but id probably start flingin lead if it got stolen with an s15 front end. lol

I came across this front bumper, its kind of nice, not overdisplaying of the I/C, but much better looking than stock. Whats your guys take on this? Will it look funny if i dont do sideskirts with it or a rear bumper? http://https://www.andysaustos...2.jpg

You can go with several different intercoolers, spearco makes really good ones. Greddy is a good brand to go with plus they have been doing tuning for a while. The size you should go with is the short wide ones that way it fits in your stock bumper better espcially like the one in the pic you attached to your last message. As far as front bumpers there aren't too many out there that I like but then again I own an S14 so I'm not really sure about 13's.

Looks fine to me. My personal prefrence with hatches is just the late model s13 240sx bumper and kouki tail lights. Simple and sexy.

If you want somthing that looks stock but is still really nice and OEM then go with the 180sx Type X front bumper, side skirts, rear bumper and wing. And do the 180sx tail lights that would look MINT. And if you want to go really far you could find some 180sx quarter pannel glasses. It would be a full 180sx conversion So theres a clean look that not many people do. Hope that helps.

You will have to hack up any bumper you put on there pretty much. I cut some material away from my factory silvia aero bumper, sure it made me want to cry, but it was a nessecity for a front mount and it looks/fits great.

You might have to, But you can get a body shop to they will make it even and can smooth out the cuts so it wont look like a hack job.

I assume you are talking about Yuri over at Heavy Throttle? They have a guide on thier site that talks you through the whole swap process from the mechanical aspects to the wiring. http://srownersclub.com/faq/index.asp

how wide can i go on the tires and rims without having them stick out of the fenders? I was told 9.5 but i want to make sure before i purchase. Whats a good width for a car that will be making 350whp in the future?

I would go with 255s in the rear and either 225s or 235s in the front. But if you really want to push it to the limit you can do 265s in the rear but thats the MAX!

When you get the harness back, all the plugs should be labeled telling you which one is which.

Yea 265 and 235 would be perfect not sticking out at all but i would just go with 255s rear to make sure nothing rubs, just as a safty precaution.

Either 9 1/2 inches or 10 will work.
