So yesterday i was driving and my check engine light came on. i have a 95 with a KA24DE. I got the codes read and it showed a bad knock sensor and 02 sensor. I bought a used knock sensor of my friend and then I reset my ECU and the light went off. So he gave me my money back because he said i should be fine. so I drove it last night and today, then on my way home it came back on. The day before it came on i was washing my car and my hood was open and my engine bay got sprayed with water. Do you think they could have gotten wet and shorted out or something?

I know the 02 is easy but he said he was keeping his extra 02 sensor. So now I'm in the process of finding one for cheap, the knock sensor is gonna be a pain in the butt to replace though. I have to remove the whole intake manifold, correct?

you shouldn't have reset the ecu. you should have waited for it to go off by itself. That would have meant the problem was fixed. resetting the ecu just means the car has to have some miles put on it before it recognizes the same problem again. Also i highly doubt the water hurt the sensors at all, we have all driven through the rain and hit a big puddle.

The reason I reset the ECU was because i was told it could be faulty.
Breadbox thanks for those posts, shoulda searched harder
I'll try to work on it tomorrow if I find some time. And I didn't think water would be the problem but i thought I'd ask. We've had really have rain here last week and my drive to work had a couple puddles that had to be damn near a foot deep and nothing happened after that.

if u need a cheap O2 sensor, this site has name brand ones for $15-20, i bought mine from them. My car is an 89 coupe with a S14 KA and it runs perfect, they ship fast and have great customer service : http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/raframecatalog.php

on my s14 i had the light and it read knock sensor, if i drove it in the rain it would turn off for a few days then come back on. not sure what the problem really was but it didnt effect anything other than that annoying yellow light

srraptor my car seems to be running fine. no power loss or anything. I just seem to not be getting the greatest gas mileage now.

same thing mine was, run through a puddle and the light will prolly turn off lol, idk what the deal is with them, ive heard the sensor is the first to go on the way to a blown head but idk, i did have a blown head on mine, but that was after 4 years of a "bad knock sensor', my altima does it too sometimes, it has the same year ka, i think it might just be a manufacturer flaw...
