I have Stupid Street in my bathroom.

I do read it, lots of crap in there, and there would be even more crap if i decide to use it the way I'm tempted to sometimes...:)

240s will never be the next Civics. In some way, I'm glad they're discontinued here in the states. That'll keep them from getting played out. However, this new sports car craze has resurrected the the Fairlady Z, and the upcoming Rx-8. Does anyone see a trend here? Well anyways, screw Super Street!

JDM is a term used wayyyy too loosely. Oh well..

Super Street, Import Tuner, Sport Compact Car, and all the other Primedia magazines are all just advertising magazines. That's it. Once in a while they'll throw in some technical stuff, but its the same stuff they wrote about last year. All they care about is that when they say Altezza, the honda ricers go out and buy em. Eh blah. Everytime I think about how shi**y Primedia is and how the ricers are just Primedia's lemmings, I get ticked off. That's a bad thing, cuz that's how I get tickets. Does anyone know of a true tuner magazine out there? I'd think that it would probably be local mag sfor somewhere, but I'd rather buy that than Primedia garbage.

I personally have no problem with super street. They do talk about JDM alot but do alot with it. I think they mean that 240s are growing greatly in popularity like the civic has, when they say 240s are gonna be the next civic. I dont mind this cause it doesnt mean that they are gonna turn rice but it does mean there will be more parts out and they will be cheaper. Have you ever noticed how honda parts are like half the price of nissan stuff. A little off the subject the word i think that gets thrown around to much is silvia. To me if your not sitting in the right seat when your driving your not a silvia, you might be close but you still arnt. Exspecially when people are driving early s13 hatches calling them silvias when they have an sr20, if they are a silvia shouldnt they have a coupe and a ca18. Just thought i would vent a little.

I hate it when ricers say "are you dropping the silvia motor in it?" and then i say which one and they pause for few seconds then say SR20. stupid ricers...

I personaly enjoy Sport Compact Car, granted it is about a 9 to 1 ratio of ads but for the most part there articles are pretty informative, check out the Project Silvia there working on. Also the columns and editorial are pretty good every issue, plus most of the writers are active racers in the SCCA or Rally events of some sort. Super Street can't even hold a candle to SCC.

Yes I left it out by accident. Grassroots Motorsports kicks the perverbial behind, it and Japanies Performance are both very good.

I dont have to worry about 240's being played out, I have the only 240sx in the city. There are probably only 5 in the city close to me. 240's are super rare where I live.

I like the editorials and columns in SCC too, and it is more technically oriented than Super Street (which I cant stand) I think of the import magazines I've seen SCC is the least annoying.

true, I think ss means that the 240 is the only other car out there with a jspec brother. (that's affordable) I think the jdm civic phase is played and everyone knows it. plus 240's are goddam rare as hell anyway, I'm hoping I can even find one in texas when I sell my car next month......

sport compact is by far the best, but I also like import tuner, they are reporting on a 240 project they did with ctc motorsports in dallas. lots of good info, I'll probably model my suspension close to that.

yeah, considering that there are over 400,000 civics made every year, i think they are a little more civics than 240s...

All those magazine's are cool with me.I dont have any subcriptions but Ill buy at least one per month.I'll pick one out depending on that months content. The featured cars and product comaprisments rock! The aftermarket parts they test are all good parts.....and they have all that eye candy. If any magazine thats going to keep me interested its that kind.BTW: Did anyone mention "Motor Trend"?

I kinda feel the fury against Primedia and their magazines being all about the advertising. SCC is a good mag though, because they have diversity in articles. In addition to the typical, book-report style where they run down the list of mods a car has; the magazine also has some interesting tech and "scene" articles, like the one about Japanese racing in the latest issue.

Turbo has a couple of good articles every once in a while. For example, their latest article about the turboed Sentra SE-R has a bunch of good information about turboed SR20DETs (turbo sizing, cams, engine management, etc.)

Super Street and Import Tuner blow. I think they're purchased by high school kids, who want a glossy car mag to look at when they should be paying attention in class.

here's a magazine question, when/if you go the the nissan or infiniti dealer for service, what kind of magazines do they have in the waiting area? all the times i've been to the infiniti dealer they have home/garden magazines and super chevy and other hot rod magazines. no import or motortrend/car and driver type.

For the most part, Thereare about, what, 13 mags thatgo for the import scene, in the states at least, and not including the importd ones from europe and australia. Mins the mags that o only for hondas, and thats about 4 mags. Either way, all ofus are always gonna have something to say about all of them, and mainly cuz there is probably an article in there that really eats you away, or its because of all of the ads. But, they are our source of info for some, and for some, its the internet thats our source. There will always be rice in there, but for he most part, most of the mags make fun of them by adding sm kind of sarcastic comment towards them. Me, I just pick up whichever one that has someting good to read, or at least i thumb through the pictures. I dont bash on any of em though, cuz there is always an article that eats away at me.
