I really don't have a problem standing in line anywhere if they communicate with you. Aknowledge the customer that's waiting. give them a nod or say "I'll be with you as soon as I can."
It takes no effort to say those things and lets the customer know he or she is not invisible. Even if they are drivers dressed in Autozone attire, it's not hard to train them to say "Someone will be right with you."
After I've waited, thank me for my patience. Again, it's not hard, and I might actually want to come back again.
For the record, I did go back to Autozone last Saturday because Kragen was out of what I was looking for once again (a balljoint seperator). I want in there and noticed an all female staff of 5. The store was crowded, but the way they handled everything so smoothly was just amazing. They aknowledged every customer walking through the door, there was someone there to answer my question quickly, I was able to get right to the register, pay, and leave and they even thanked me sincerely. That's what I like. I'd go back again with that staff. The other guys from days prior looked depressed like somebody had shot their wives in the vagina 5 times and they'd never get sex again or something. Geez...
