So I've been on this forum for about two years, gone to a couple of meets in SoCal. Met some cool cats from here too.
I no longer have my coupe lowered or with rims. I don't even drive for that matter. While I love the coupe I felt like we were drifting apart.
So here is my new ride, coming 6/1 2012
Already have the vin just waiting for it

Wow. . . Well if you must go, that seems like the way to do it lol. Glad to see em finally on the road. All the talk over the years was getting old.

Nice, congrats. Saw one on the road for the first time yesterday, much smaller than I expected. A mod in gen chat is waiting delivery on his BRZ, you should compare.

Yes I'm very excited, while the interior is not top notch it's not that bad. The seats feel really good. I was originally going to get a BRZ but dealers were marking them up.

Saw 2 of them at the Mega Meet yesterday, a red one and a black one. They are tiny. About the size of a toyota MR-2 The motor is a 200hp 4cyl made by Subaru. Looked like a tiny Genesis

That^ they are. Nobody can sit behind the driver unless your name is Pinocchio. The passenger side maybe if seat is not all the way back. Regardless, I don't like carrying excess weight so it's all good lol. Can't wait

Awesome sounding car but yeah, the interior isn't so great but that's the case with most any Scion, very cheap interiors.

Hell, half our staffers don't own a Nissan. You'll always have a home here.

Besides, I hear (from a couple of my forum-owner buddies) that the big BRZ/FR-S board is run by morons. :)

Thanks guys, yeah I've been lurking on there and most of the people I can't even relate to. I wanna stagger my ride, but from what I've been reading they all seem to hate that.
Anyhow, I wanna take it to a meet. Only fr-s of the bunch. I don't really mind that it's a scion, at the end of the day it's still made by Subaru lol. Maybe debadge it.

Toyota and Subaru made the BRZ and fr-s. the engine and almost everything except for the design is by Subaru. I sat in it and it doesn't feel that cheap, I love my coupe but it wasn't that much better interior wise. the seats on the fr-s/BRZ feel much better and they hug you very well.
But don't worry the coupe didn't go anywhere, my sister drives it now. I couldn't let it go just like that.

This FRS isnt about "looking better" or being "cheap". Its about performance in an entry level price range. Stagger your wheels, wrap an Anime character on the side, do whatever you want. But you best drive the s*** out of it after you do.

Rather silly that those guys aren't about staggered fitment on a RWD car - that's where the usage of staggered fitment actually has a good performance gain on top of simply looking better!

The 370Z, Genesis track, Camaro SS, Mustang GT Track Pack, Challenger SRT, BMW M3, any Porsche (and many others) ALL have staggered wheel fitments as part of a performance package option, while some even come equipped standard. As long as you don't go too nuts with the offsets, you'll be fine. You had a sick wheel setup on your ride - I remember when you first jumped on the forums.

Stick around so we can geek out over the new Scion with ya! I'd like to see what you do with it.

And if it makes you feel any better, my replacement for my Altima Coupe (whenever I sell it, ugh. lol) will likely be a Mazdaspeed 3 - it is the only thing on the market that works on all fronts for me (not terribly expensive, has power, can fit my drums, decent on gas). Nissan doesn't have much to offer for me there, unfortunately.

^I assume they (Scion) didnt offer it out of the factory because the FSR is in fact supposed to be entry level. Staggered set-up costs more, standard option or not. Im sure future trims will offer it, but not this first run. Maybe once the brand gains some more support it will grow into some higher end packages. I think they are going bare bones at this point to get a feel of where they are heading.

Yeah I will definitely stick around, thanks everyone.
I should have it this weekend or middle of next week. It's the asphalt color, can't wait to start modifying it. Even though I will leave it stock for the first year or so.
By then the aftermarket support should be bigger and cheaper.

My BRZ is at the dealership now.. I'll pick it up Sat morning.. So excited!!!

My understanding of the staggered issue for FRS/BRZ is this: Toyota and Subaru set up the suspension and tires to make the cars nearly perfectly neutral with low grip tires to make them incredibly balanced and fun to play with. Scion is slightly more tail-happy than Subaru.. but both have things dialed in extremely well to prevent understeer without being stupidly tail-happy. The people on the forums for these cars rag on the idea of staggered tires constantly. The theory they put forth is that wider rear tires have bigger contact patch and thus.. more grip. More grip in the rear means the back end won't slide out and the car will ultimately understeer.

Right now, the people who are most vocal on those forums are the handling snobs.. the ones who think they are professional racers who will compete on national autocross competitions, etc.. Some of them are brilliant and absolutely correct.. others are idiots who like to run their mouths.

I have no qualms about running a staggered setup. I would like to autocross, so I'll probably get a set of wheels with r comp tires or high end sports tires just for autocross.. perhaps I would put those on the stock wheels.. then run a nice set of Gram Lights as daily drivers with a nice staggered setup. .. we'll see...

Post pics when you get your car. You can count on me doing the same this weekend.

Awesome! What color are you getting?
I agree with you in what you said, I'm not planning on auto crossing or anything like that. At least not right away. I do however plan on getting some quality coilovers for this car.
I was told my car should be ready for pick up between the 1st and 5th of June. So hopefully it's there by time I get home from vacation.

<--- World Rally Blue.. just like my avatar picture.

I'll do coilovers someday, but I'm not dropping $2500 on the first set on the market. Wait til you can get a quality set for $1200 or so.. There should be some decent options in that price range eventually I think.

I'm hoping for a BRM exhaust as soon as they get it developed.

Nice color! Yeah I like the kw coilovers. But I would rather wait for the version 1or2. By then there should be plenty of options, and when there's options usually prices become lower. Can't wait!
