Well, today I recieved a tracking number for my front clip! Only thing is, I don't know how it gets typed in, etc, hehe. It's being shipped via a company called "China Shipping Lines" Anyone know of it?

Anyway, I guess it's actually coming! I think they said it's in Long beach right now, so It should be up to Maine pretty soon, right??

We can only hope.

Seriously, keep us* posted on how long it takes, what condition the engine's in, and all other things prospective buyers* may be interested in. How much did you pay and what does it include?

Definately. It seems to be getting more difficult to find good JDM engine sources... then on the other hand, it could be a _poster_ of a Sylvia :-)

awesome dude you gotta keep us up to date on this. I'm gonna be needing a CA18DET front clip in the next month or so, i wanna know if flashoptions can handle their business. How much was shipping? The clip was 1000 like it says on the website?

You'll never get it in a month... It's been 4 months or so since I ordered mine. As far as ordering from them again... I don't think I would, not until they have a base in Atlanta, which they're planning on. They did work to solve the problem, but it still shouldn't have taken 4 months for me to get it. AND I still don't have it yet, but we'll see in a week or so.

Hmm, you might be able to. The one thing I will say about them is that their prices are nearly unbeatable. I got my clip for $1530.00 shipped.

Right but a good ripoff artist ties up the loose ends...makes more sense to send this clip to the one who waited 4 months and make this guy wait longer since he just ordered...if he is legit obviously that makes sense, and even a ripoff artist wouldn't want someone to go around for 4 months bad mouthing the company so that others would know not to get sucked into the scheme.

Just to play devil's advocate, is it possible they just can't keep up with demand? Might it not take them time to select quality engines, particularly with the boom this particular market is experiencing?

I've read all the threads they put up, and frankly they sound like a bunch of paranoid consumers (read: OMG I have been waiting TWO WEEKS and I haven't got my clip OMG scam artists) doing their best to scapegoat some guy that can't speak english well. If they are scam artists, they seem to be doing a lousy job of it.

That said, I am eagerly awaiting your 'quality report', as it were.

Well, apparently the first clip was lost in customs (a very believable story with our nations "awareness level" right now). The second, however, seems to be getting here quite fast. If that's the case, I would blame it on the shipping company rather than Flashoptions.

I'm stuck in a bit of a bind, however. They seem to be a good company and I would like to say good things about them, but having waited this long for my clip... it's hard to do so.

I do, at this point, believe them to be 100% honest and doing the best job that they can.

EDIT: Also, I was mistaken about the date of my order. My wire transfer took place on 3/13/03 (just checked). As far as I can remember, the actual order took place about a week afterwards, so that would put the order around the 20th of March. I've still waited over 4 months, but it's not quite as bad as February.

yeah I have felt that way before.. I'd say its best just to wait and see how some other customers get served before placing another order....

Well, I actually just sent out another email. It looks like the shipping company is slacking a bit. This might explain quite a bit. At any rate, I'll definately keep everyone up to speed and give a nice BIG post when I get it :D

They have opened the warehouse in Atl and i've emailed the guy that runs it a few times...I've asked numerous times if i could come down to check out what he has...he keeps telling me that he has shipments coming in but won't give me an address to the warehouse. something wierd going on i think..

You will get your engine from Flash, it just takes time. They are not scam artists. They just have different ways of doing business. What I imagine happened is that they over sold clips. They didn't want to lose customers so they kept on taking orders thinking they can come up with the clips in a reasonable time. Eventually things got out of hand and as the back orders increased, so did the complaints. It's called selling something you don't have but can get and it is a common business practice among many. It doesn't make you a scam artist and is sometimes a profitable decision for the seller as long as the customer gets the item in a timely manner. In this case it didn't so the only issue with flash options at this moment is timing.
