I love Europas, and yes, I've driven one. Very cool cars to drive and to be seen in, but not a good car to own unless you're a mechanic with a reliable source for parts. When I was younger I came thisclose to buying a 1st generation Europa, the one with the renualt motor. (The later twincams were quicker). My father wisely talked me out of it as I was looking for a fun daily driver. I found Europa delightful to drive, very tossable (for such an old car), made all the right sounds and looks very cool, but it's very small, you sit very low, was very cramped, very underpowered by todays standards, and has some huge blindspots. And since it's a typical lotus, very fragile and unreliable. I think a restored Europa would make a great weekend car, but I wouldn't want to have to rely on it. Electrical problems and rust were the biggest problems. I believe NICO member Reggiespd has owned a few old Loti, plus a few a Jensen Healy's which I also think are cool British cars. I'm sure he'd be happy to share experiences.
