My dad and brother put in the engine while I was gone visiting a long distance ex. I was pissed because I didn't get to re-run the heater hoses and check the turbo. So I had to ghetto rig the heater hose which I failed at. I at least got to check the flywheel, clutch, pressure plate, and throw out baring which looked in great shape. The engine has been sitting in my car for about 8 months or so. It's safe to say that it probably hasn't been started in over a year.

1st videohttp://vids.myspace.com/index....822521. I think there's a huge leak somewhere2. You might have noticed that my tachometer is not working3. Stupid heater hose is leaking4. I also need to bleed the clutch, I tried to bleed it from the slave cyl but I was told you have to bleed it from the master as well

2nd videohttp://vids.myspace.com/index....96544 Here is where sh*t hits the fan. A lot of smoke is coming from in between the exhaust mani and turbo. I also have no garage or cherry picker so taking the engine back out is not an option as of now.

About the tachometer, could it be my ECU? I got a 62 ECU with a mines tune on it. The motor set came with a J4, but the harness they gave me was for the older ECU's.

I'm surprised your car runs with a 62 ecu, if in fact you have a j4 motor. The smoke should be normal if you havn't started it for a while. Here's some links to my wire clips to the dash and other stuff that should help.zerothread?id=298242the charts on this 1 are the bomb!zerothread?id=297604

Did you get a different wire harness and 62 ecu put in?

Yeah, the harness came with the motor set but it was brand new. I figured that the guy who sent me the motor set didn't realize that the harness was different according to model. All my injectors work and all the coil packs are firing. I made that observation before I got the engine running, lucky me. Thanks for the redirect. For some reason I didn't search "dash" I just did "ECU" and "tachometer." Bad searching skills FTL. I thought I did the wiring right, but it has been months since I did it, so I'm going to recheck.

Is your tach from a DOHC model, or SOHC? Also, is that breather connected to your intake?

The smoke looks like its coming from your turbo, possibly a bad gasket somewhere on the turbo.

DOHC, and yeah it's connected to the intake. The oil catch can I bought has the wrong size tubing. I just wanted to start the car for a short moment, I can't drive it until I get my window fixed. A tree branch feel on it during a storm. I didn't want to fix the window till I knew I could get the car running.
