The 4.6L DOHC is not detuned. My buddy's 97 Mark VIII ran a 15.0 bone stock. 280hp/285tq out of a 4.6L. That is just as fast, if not faster than any 90-96 Q45 out there. Face the facts people.

Its probably a lot lighter... Cheapo air suspension (good excuse for them for poor suspension design) and just cheaper overall.....

Ill take a loss of a little bit of speed for 250k

250k? Your last Q hardly reached half of that...

it's funny when you get mad when you face the facts. Seeming as though your q now is on its 2nd motor as well. Doesn't seem like these cars are reaching the 250k mark as much as you'd like to think? I came in here and get nothing but harshness to me, so of course I will dish it out.

Of course, Wes's current Q was subjected to heavy drag racing, nitrous oxide, etc. The last one rarely saw oil changes under the previous owner.

Dennis at T3 services Q45s that reach 450k on the original motor. His own is at 270k and running strong. My 92 is currently at 193k. Heath's 90, 200k. Nick racked up 200k on his last Q.

The Mark 8 is also one heck of a luxury coupe. A close friend of mine just bought one, and I almost did as well. It doesnt ride/handle anywhere near as well as the Q. The interior isnt nearly as nice. The cabin isnt as quiet. Its lighter thanks in part to being smaller and having two fewer doors. But the two cars are comparable in terms of performance, and being a lover of automobiles in general I admire and appreciate both -- but theyre geared toward different purposes with one being a sedan.

I agree with Jesda. Wes's views are simply too liberal for my tastes, thats all.

Basically, it is a heat exchanger, like an intercooler, designed to vaporize the gas, by heating it up with exhaust, or hot water, before it goes into the engine. A friend and I built one in high school. It was supposed to get 100 MPG. The problem is, that with today's engines, it won't work.

We tried to get it to work on his '66 Mustang, but we could not get the engine to run worth a crap.

I don't recall where we got the idea, but it was a cast heat exchanger.

The engine in the eBay auction is a Flat-Head Ford, from the late 40's or possibly the early 50's. I forgot what year they introduced the dual radiator hoses. That engine was prone to overheat.
