Right now I'm having a hard time with Metroid Prime 2: Echoes.

I'm stuck right at the boss after getting the water booster device.

Yeah. It's a complicated control set-up; every damn button on the pad is used. But you get used to it.

The fish thing? You need to use a beam combo when its mouth is open. Super missile is the best bet. Because of the timing it can be hard to get enough successful shots off before running out of missiles or dying.

I own all the Metroid games, too.

If you have a Wii, go grab the Prime Trilogy. The Wii controls make the games even better, but lockon is still there when you need it.
Dattebayo wrote:Hey MOD, do you have the Master edition or whatever of OoT?
Yeah. It's not that hard to find it used, but kind of expensive.

I have like 100 missiles, but when do you fire? Every time the thing gets close enough to see the hole I just impact on the surface... Maybe I'm letting go of the guidance too early.

Dammit. I don't want to buy a Wii until they go down in price. I just don't like most of the games they make for it.

The Wii's not likely to get any cheaper. It's down to $199 now and I can't see Nintendo being able to lower it any more than that (the DSi costs $160).

For the boss fight, just wait until the LAST possible minute, then lock-on strafe out of the way. If you think it's safe to fire, you probably still need to wait a bit more. One super missile hit will take a BIG chunk of its health away (probably will only take about 4 hits) so depending on how diligent you've been at collecting energy tanks you can probably afford to take a few hits.A charged Dark Beam will also do a ton of damage, and the speed of the dark projectiles is different from the super missile, so it's worth experimenting with that, too.

The Wii version adds some cool stuff, like achievement-style tokens that are used to unlock extras (art galleries, music, and even the Fusion suit and original Metroid game which were unlockable by linking the GBA Metroid 4 on the gamecube version of Prime). Some neat visuals like dynamic lighting have also been added and all 3 of course now support widescreen. Definitely worth picking up, especially since it's 3 full games on one disc for $50.

Just got game informer and it has the top 200 games ever list, with the original zelda at number 1.

Personally don't think its the top game out of 200, but Mine was top ten. FF3/6

I need to buy copies of Oracle of Ages and Oracle of Seasons.

I just bought a mint-in-box copy of Link's Awakening (NOT DX) for my newly-ordered brand new Game Boy Light. w00t.

NICE find. I have the box for my DX version but that's nowhere near as cool.

I can't figure out what I did with my Oracle games. I can't find them anywhere. Makes me mad, as that's yet more portable Zelda goodness.

Ugh, Goron dance. Both of those games have one of those timing based puzzle things in them. Both of them are immensely irritating

This thread has reminded me that I need to buy a newer GBA SP with the good backlight. With my DS lite dead, all I have to play my gameboy games on is a 1st edition GBA SP with the crummy backlight.

^^LOL!

I always thought I was the only person who absolutely hated that, but recently I've been reading a bunch of Zelda reviews and boards, and the Goron dance is UNIVERSALLY reviled. It's a big running joke in a few places.

I'm convinced if I made some kind of T-shirt playing to it, a lot of people would get it.

My GBL is supposed to arrive in the next 3-4 days, I can't wait. I've wanted one ever since EGM announced it's release way back in early 1998.

As far as Metroid vs. Contra, I would absolutely agree. However, Contra is one of those games that turns boys into men, just from sheer difficulty. It's like Zelda 2, or the NES Mega Man titles.

I will feel like I've conquered the world when I someday have beaten the NES Contra, the GBA Contra, every NES Mega Man title, and Zelda 2. As it stands, I've beaten NONE of them.

I won't even add Ikaruga and Radiant Silvergun to that list. I own both, and I will never ever ever ever ever beat either one. I'd have to devote a decade of my life to each.
