Acumen is spelt right, and no I didnt have to look it up. And I was taking the military talk from another perspective that I dont think you have seen.
Man, this just goes to show the only war between our 2 countries why Canada has triumphed!! You guys, NOT ALL MOST OF YOU ARE GREAT PEOPLE, are typical perceivable Americans, you cant keep anything to yourself and think you are all high and mighty and think everything should be done your way, I mean you voted in Bush of all people and had him for 2 terms, why anyone would do that I dont know. The haters on this thread seem to dish and dish and thats pretty much it. So what if I am 230lbs, 6'3", a bit overweight and no posture...no posture? I think it would be hard for you guys to, since you were able to lift things and know what you were doing, to go in the woods every day for about 8 hours, carry logs on your back using no machinery, walk in 3 feet snow to school at 8 years old 5 kilometers away. There are TONS of other stuff that a Newfoundlander has to endure in his life, and thats why were are one of the best known soldiers in the WORLD. Our Canadian Forces, and this is a fact that the US Military hasnt come to realize yet, are better trained than US Regular Forces. We are on avg. smarter and more physically fit and not full of nazi wannabe's and skin heads that realized that their life sucks and the military is the only place to go. Here in Canada the military is a Career, there in the US, NOT ALL PEOPLE ARE LIKE THIS BECAUSE TO SOME IT IS A CAREER, but others see it as a means so they can be taken care of like their mom, where everything is done for them. You guys wanna dish out more, im ready for more, probably why we have NEVER LOST A WAR, we dont run, but stand our ground.
I first want to point out that I am Canadian, and damn proud of it.
However, mightyversa, your comments are what perpetuates the stereotypes Americans might hold against Canada. For instance, re-read your comments; you cannot honestly say they don't come off as petulant and reeking of an inferiority complex.
I cannot comment on your claim that Canadian soldiers are superior to American ones, simply because I do not know enough of either. That said, for better or for worse, the American armed forces are the most funded in the world, which in turn provides better training opportunities and superior equipment. This in turn, leads to soliders who are better prepared. Your comments, if I read them correctly, refer to the heart and/or determination of a soldier. That cannot be measured, really.
You claim that Canada has never lost a war is mixed with patriotic pride (and nothing makes me happier to see that) but misinformed logic. One, Canada has never fought a unilateral war and thus, has never technically won or lost a a war on it's own. We have been very successful in certain battles in numerous wars, but let's keep in mind the loses we suffered as well.
All this said, my Versa gas mileage is slowly improving with each tank; I am still not getting anything remotely higher than 25MPGs. Man, I cannot wait for warmer weather. Thanks to all those who had advice in previous threads.
