I'd pick this Hyundai over this BMW.

I think that's how things started out with the two. These days it seems more comfort vs sport. Kia will be selling big rear-drivers here in the US soon, starting with the Genesis-based Quoris. Not sure if Kia will ever be able to pull off an Equus twin, but I know plenty of people who would love an affordable 5-series fighter that's not so laden with tech that you can't even change the volume without a manual.

500+ hp V8
6spd manual
Curb weight under 3800 lbs
simple Navigation & backup camera
dials and buttons for everything else, I don't want to have to use the nav screen to turn on the AC
5 seat belts (don't delete the middle seat belt with a drive shaft tunnel, Porsche, Audi, CLS)

Doesn't Cadillac build this car already its called a CTS-V

While I lust after the CTS-V, that's not what I was getting at. I said 5-series, not M5. Average people want affordable 5-series fighters. Kia can deliver.

^ This.

I think the first car manufacturer that goes TRULY "open-source" with their build (not the stupid Scion model of bolt-on appearance crap) is going to be a Korean manufacturer.

Build a "Spec-Class Genesis" coupe and sedan (lighter weight, less luxocrap, a forced-induction option) and BMW won't know what to do (other than put out another snotty commercial touting their tired, worn-out slogan).

Besides, they're busy this week - recalling THREE-QUARTERS OF A MILLION VEHICLES. Whoopsie. :)

Thanks for setting me straight Chris. Had no idea Kia was getting a Genesis clone. Now if they could just give cars names that dont require a grad degree in Latin to pronounce...

My buddy sells used cars at a Hyundai dealership. He got to drive a 5.0 Genesis and couldnt stop talking about how fast it was. And this is a guy that has a 400hp WRX.

4.5 seconds for 4,000lbs is pretty impressive

Even with two more doors and 2in longer overall length, it only weighs 250lbs more than the bloated-pig Camaro

4.5 seconds for $38k is the impressive part to me.

My Jag does it in 4.2 for $70k, the CTS-v does it in 4.0 for $70k, the E63 does it in 3.8 for 100k, the S6/S7 Audi does it in 3.7 for 80k and the new BMW M5 does it in 3.7 for 97k. Sedans went and got fast on us in 2012/2013. THIS is why Jaguar had to create the XFR-S using the XKR-S pulley and tune to get sub 4 second runs.

Keep in mind the F430 Ferrari was in the 3.9-4.4 second to 60 range and the new 458 Italia manages a 3.5 second to 60 run these sedan times are fantastic!

The next Camaro is going to be a smaller car based on an extended version of the Alpha RWD platform. I'm expecting a 400 pound diet.
