the factory electric one comes is to cool the a/c condenser. it comes on when the a/c is on.

i'm thinking i may get the flex-a-lite adjustable switch. i'd rather have a screw in type of thermo switch, but since a shop here has the adj one i may get it.

j-z - if you can take some pics of your set-up so we can check it out.

just wondering, I know theres a performance gain since theres less mass on the drive belt. How much performance? Also is the cooling just as good or better?

the cooling level is the same as stock according to the stock water temp gauge. if you put your hand in front of the middle bumper opening and i turn the fans on you can feel it pulling air and its 'cool' as it passes your hand. i did notice a power gain from doing this. well i didnt make more power i just freed some up. this along with a cone filter i also adapted onto the maf my car feels alot faster. it actually likes to rev higher now and pulls alot harder. no bs.

I was going to set myself up for some abuse here and say that I think this mod is pretty unnecessary, but I found a thread on the Rx7 forum where I spend way too much time which was almost identical to this one and there was a link to Aaron Cake's site and he sums it up better than I could so here is the link if you are interested: Click here .

Obviously the article is geared to the Rx7 but I think it is parallel enough that it applies here too.

I heartily disagree. Converting to the e-fans gave me the following improvements:

1) More surface area of the radiator directly under the fans.2) The aforementioned decrease in the resistence on the engine.3) Discarding the original fan shroud and clutch fan freed up some very useful space in the front of the engine bay, making several other maintenence jobs much easier4) The elimination of the annoying whooshing sound produced by a clutch fan on a cold start or on hot days.

^^^^ couldnt have said it better myself. it is very useful and best of all it was free. what more can i ask for? it looks factory, operates like it came from the factory, freed up a **** load of room and freeed up some power. getting to the alternator now if need be is such a sinch. youre correct though it is unecessary. but look at how much you benefit from doing it. nuff said.
