the sti is faster than the evo. the evo has a faster 0-60 time because it has a 5 speed and can hold second until 65, but he sti, with a 6 speed, has to have a 2-3 shift before 60 and slows it down. The sti will take it in the 1/4 mile

IIRC, in the lastest Car and Driver, both the Evo and Sti have to shift out of second to hit 60 mphBTW, my fav auto mag is C/D. Second favorite-Road & Track...

well i know SCC got their lil grubby hands on one and without a 'professional' driver (however, he was no slouch) the best they pulled off was 13.8, and that was on his 3rd run, and EVERYONE knows launching is a biotch in a 4wd car, but thats the numbers, as far as looks, give me the sti, however i drive before i give my opnion on which i would take, and also, the 2.5 vs 2.o, they did want to keep hte rally crap or something, but all i know is the 2.5 is the IMPREZA RS motor, with a turbo on it, well, its not THAT straighforward, but u get the idea, most tuners in japan, bore out the STi to 2.2 anyway, so i see it as a big tuning advantage!

Right on, 350z rules. Even if it is slower stock that is what the huge amount of after market parts is for including the twin turbo kit. twin turbo intercooled 350 would destroy either of those cars as they are allready tuned up very high to make that power. like they said before 18psi for the lancer. It doesn't have much more to give without a bigger turbo or bigger IC. No replacment for displacment. So long as its on the same technologiac standards.

I just spent two days at VIR with not one but two different spanking new Evo's. These are not dragsters guys, they are turn key roadracers. You can't appreciate them until you get them on a track WITH TURNS. They looked ricey until you look at 'em closely. I was very impressed after given a ride in one Great cars. Amazing pickup, very tossable, great Recaro Seats. They're a bargain. I still preferred my Z but Evo's were no slouches. I wouldn't mind one...

sorry, but I have been seeing nothing but EVO in my future since GT2 came out. I love the STi and 350Z, but I'd take the EVO any day:D

Im sure they handle swell....I have yet to drive one ...

I have driven a new Z and a WRX w' susupension mods and the Z is the hands down winner....

But my silvia is not quite as refined but Id autocross againts any Z, EVO, or STI.....I know Id hold my own with my susupension mods and SR......and Ive put less than 20k, including cost of car, into my ride.

So as usual......240s rule all others DROOL!!!!!!:evilhaha

After my adventure today in my friends evo, I must say, this is truly an amazing car. He has made a believer out of me.

13.82 with a bone stock evo, a slightly overwieght guy driving, full interior, me in passenger seat, and stuff in the trunk. HIs best run was 13.62. After the run he took with me, they told him that he could no longer run with a passenger in the car, and no helmet. So I was the first, and last to ride the 1320 in this car. I have a crappy soundless vid that I need to upload, but dont know where to put it. I'll start a new thread for pictures and what have you. Holy bejesus!

damn id take the sti any day over the evo. although , id screw both of those cars for the same amount of money and import myself an s15 silvia from japan. or well on the other hand i could always get a used s15 and swap an rb26dett. anyone wana agree with me????? the 350z is a bit too upclass....just one of those cars you wouldnt want to take to the tracks.

I'd rather have the sti, just because I love subaru, and hate DSM. Oh well, mitsu did a pretty damn good job with the lancer, I give them credit for that.

all i can say is i love my Evo. The STI will beat it in the 1/4 for sure despite whatever MT specs might say. thte 13.1 times are pretty fast for the Evo. I would say 13.5-13.8 is average for the Evo unless you're just a crazy good driver with a tail wind. Interior could use a little more something but I don't mind. At least it comes standard with a CD player something the STI doesn't have. An with $1000 you're putting down 350HP. can't complain.

Wow, 4 pages of posts on the new EVO and not one mention of the fact that it is still running basically the same 4g63 engine as the early 90's DSM's. It is boosted all to hell (20psi ??) allowing little room for more power. I see massive crankwalk problems in the future of the EVO. Maybe Mitsu has fixed that though, I dunno.

they fixed the crankwalk. it was upgraded with 6 bolt to 10 bolt. guys are boosting up to 24psi already, at 25 the head bolts begin to stretch (ouch).

I heard the Crankwalk problem is gone too. What DSM did do was put all of the go-fast goodies in at the factory with a WARRANTY. Would cost a lot more to add the stuff aftermarket, which would void the warranty. That's a lotta car for $30K. Will the STI be a few ticks faster? Perhaps, but who friggin' cares? I expect that to be a great car too.

Hey Bubba how do you like your 350Z? In a year or less Im looking to get a new car but have problems deciding. Im looking right now at the G35coupe,350, or a STI. Ive weighed down the options of more room and speed but what do you like and do not like about the 350. Thanks for the help.

I love it/ Just used it at VIR a few weeks ago. Fun car.

Likes:stylinghandlingmotor

dislikes:lack of luggage roomnot enough lateral support for the seatsnot great rear visibility

G35 does have less aggressive styling, nicer interior materials, and actually has backseats, abeit too small for anything except toddlers or gorceries .But it's more expensive. Since the G and Z are mechanically identical, it'sreally a styling choice.
