What the article reads...

A new lawsuit, according to an article by Reuters, is alleging that Hyundai misrepresented the mileage of its Elantra.

The owner, of a 2011 Elantra, expected to achieve the “40 Mile Per Gallon” number touted in the ads; and the 40 mpg that's advertised is the model's EPA highway rating.

What the buyer didn't understand:

the type of gas mileage numbers you get depends on how you drive,

I deal with people like this all the time at work. They always expect the moon, and if they dont get the moon stars and everything in between they throw a fit and a half. Get over yourselves people.

Those folks involved in the class action suit are absurd.
The argument is null and void.
Someone should cave in the skulls of those who belong to the class action suit.

And they want it for SUPER cheap.

Be interesting to see if there is any consequence for their (plaintiffs, not Hyundai) actions.

Thi case will get quickly dismissed due to the definition of those EPA figures, and a clear waste of the court system's time. The question is who is worse, the plaintiff or his lawyer?

So stupid no one at work was even bothered to talk about it...I work as a parts manager at a local Hyundai dealer. The only news we were throwing around the shop was the new 2 door Elantra coupe that was rolled off the back of the truck this morning. I am going to get pics of it tomorrow. Slick looking car! $19k sticker price.

I read a magazine recently that did a fuel economy shootout. They babied the Elantra and fell short of it's claims. Other cars far exceeded theirs under the same driving conditions.

I'd kinda be pissed if I bought a car for it's fuel economy rating of 40MPG highway and the best I could muster (doing 55mph for a tank or whatever it takes) was 29mpg.

My parents were also telling me of a few friends of theirs that were in the same situation (although I think it might have been a Kia). Real world fuel economy was nowhere near the combined EPA rating, let alone highway.
