Ok so I take my Infiniti to have the motor and trans installed...

I get there at 10am... my appt was at that time!

The service tech goes and is like well we have a problem.... We are all out of loaner g35/37's (They have 30 new 37's he said) I was like wtf.. you knew i was coming...

So he sends me to enterprise... and he is like well we will get you a c- class benz.... Im like ok but still not a new g37....

Well The guy at enterprise says well we are all out of benz's all we have left is a kia optima and a toyota corolla. Or would you like a SUV....

So i said what kind of suv is it.. The guy says a PT cruiser... Im like that is a $hit box for old people... not an SUV and Im not driving that!

Im like steaming... I give you a g35 and you give me a POS....

I go back to infiniti and he is like wtf and made a few phone calls... and is like well now all they have is the toyota... some other guy rented the kia... Im like ok so i guess it could be worse... i could be driving a VW lol

So for the next two days I am driving a gold toyota corolla that is gold with hub caps and a smokers car that had a very hairy dog in the cabin... It smells and it is very slow...

I'm like Well i guess i can just drive the jeep lol... it is a POS and stinks!

Would you be pissed if this happened... what would you have done?

So now you know how the other half lives

I have a good relationship with the service people at my Infiniti dealer. When I need a loaner I make sure to specify that at the time of making an appointment. I also usually drop off my vehicle late afternoon for work that will be completed the following day.In the future you may want to call them before showing up to make sure a loaner is available.

I call them Crayolas.

Worst thing I ever had to drive was a Ford Contour. We bought a new car and they wanted ours and they had to go pick up the new one so they gave us a car to drive for the rest of the weekend that some farmer from Arkansas had just traded in. It had bugs ALL OVER it. Everytime we had to stop at a traffic light my kids would holler out "this isn't our car"!

I travel about 75% of the time with work so I only get to drive my G about a week to 2 weeks a month if that. The rest of the time is spent in slew of crappy rentals, from corolla's to dodge calibers, impala SS's, and multitude of other SUV's.....

First thing I do when i get home is go for a drive...I sit in my baby...gently caress the steering wheel and say baby, i'm home.

No not that it gives me status.... I was looking foward to driving one of the g37's for a few days because I wanted to compare it to my G after all the mods were installed

I was going to see how fast I could go in like a given amount of road way from a stop and I would see how fast I could do it in my G. and See how close it is...

And I called and told the guy to have a loaner ready so i was freaking pissed cuz they ran out of loaners!

I know how you feel. I had the stealership replace the driver's side valve cover/gasket. I scheduled it around their schedule since it's my second car. So when I dropped it off I asked "what car am I getting?""What do you mean" says the service manager. "You said you had a second car." I was so pissed. I have had my SUV parked since I got laid off and my girlfriend was looking forward to driving and testing out something new, what a bummer. Sorry 'bout your luck. You will appreciate your car more when you get it back though.

HA! haha. the complications involved in a 7 speed manual are enough to assure us that the 6 speed will be around for another 10 years. Its so perfect. 4 multiplication gears, a direct drive, and an overdrive. I hate it when some of you guys say stealership. makes me feel hated or outcast. I've been working at a dealer for 4 years. Best job I've ever had. Big difference between the independent shops I've been at. why do you call it a stealership?

I think it is because some do not understand how the automobile service operation functions as a business.

Factory training and equipment is expensive.

Although independent shops may be a little cheaper they often use cheap parts and do not have the same level of training that one finds at a dealer.

I learned a long time ago you usually get what you pay for.

Buy cheap, buy twice

Well we call them that when they try to steal money from us...

I do all my oil changes and brakes and other things like that myself so they don't get any money from me. My G only goes to the dealership for warranty work!

The point I was making is that if I knew someone wanted to run my new car through its paces, one that I really need to be able to sell to others, others that I will in turn have to support in the way of warranty work and so on, that I probably would not loan my new hot car out to them.

Well that is certainly true. However I do not understand how an oil change using the Nissan Ester oil can cost me $200 at an Infiniti dealer (quoted in Fife, Washington) and only $100 at a Nissan dealer (Olympia, Washington)? So far I have been treated well in Fife for warranty repairs, however I still have to consider the economics of driving 60 miles round trip more and pay $100 for the same quoted service.

Well you did go in with one that has some mods? Also if I were a large dealer or above I would be watching for post like what was above in major forums, since in reality any repair that could cost me money that could be avoided would be a wise thing to watch for.

An example of this is that many health insurance companies such as HMOs do in fact watch support groups for various expensive procedures. For example a patient who misrepresents his status as a smoker and a leukemia patient. If you were applying at a hospital that relies on large amounts of funding your success rates get you the funding and the success rates for smokers are less than that for non-smokers. I have no reason to believe that other industries don't do the same.

Just an update...

My car should be done today! I am so excited!

The Service tech called me and said everything is going well an that my New 3.5 VQ (HE) would be installed this morning...

I really don't think he knew what he was talking about... I think I am getting a updated VQ DE lol

Apparently there was a clearance issue with the new headers. But i am keeping my fingers crossed. If not I am sure I am going to have to pay an arm and a Leg to get the new headers installed lol.

I am Also not sure as to if they installed the spacer....

But I will be so thrilled if they get everything installed for me!

Perry,

Let me just say that even if I had a Vortech S/C on my car the dealer can't discriminate against me. They would still have to provide me with a loaner...

And the dealers don't care about the loaners. The buy them so cheep and use them for about 20k miles and then they sell them at the auction for almost what they paid for them!

It is a very low cost solution for Infiniti since the G holds its value very well!
