How to stop GPS from disabling

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

OK, so how do I stop the GPS from disabling certain functions while I'm driving. When we're on trips I'm usually driving and my wife is fiddling with the GPS (from the passenger seat). I'm really not liking this GPS.
If anyone knows the answer or can post a link to another thread where this has already been discussed I would greatly appreciate it.
