Does anybody know if it's possible to remove the wood trim pieces from a 2002-2004 I35 steering wheel and how?

I actually have a QX4 but they share the same wheel, so I thought I'd tap this deep well of knowledge as well  I'd like to re-wrap the wood trim pieces in a 3M vinyl, but take them off this time so I can properly wrap the pieces instead of just cutting it at the edge. They are single pieces that are only on the front of the wheel instead of being a solid piece so I'm guessing they can be snapped/pulled off, but I don't want to force it and risk ruining the wheel.

Thanks guys!

Thats a good question!

You might want to take a peek at the factory service manual link in my signature. There may be something about the steering wheel there.
When you decide to go through with the project, post up a little DYI on your custom wheel build!

I've taken that wheel off because mine chipped. There is no way of removing the wood overlay without damaging the wheel. You can get a wrap to go over it. but it is all one piece. I just bought another wheel off ebay. When taking the wheel off you will need a security bit for the airbag.

Well, that's exactly what I needed to know, even if it's not what I was rooting for  It's gotta make reupholstering it challenging.

Thank you sir!
