thats only refering to the Oil sending unit. They snap because of weight and vibration. The fitting on the turbo dont have weight put on and does vibrate.

If I'm blocking water lines, can I just get some short M14x1.5 bolts and thread them into the block / turbo?

Any thread locker/sealant recommended?

if your blocking I would use like a crush washer to seal.

if you ask me it sounds like he doesnt care much about the turbo if hes not gonna use the water lines so F*** it leave em open, i mean your being lazy might as well be100%

got a pack of 5 m14x1.5 oil drain plugs w/ crush washers for 5.33 from a website to block the block and turbo.

Also, there is a lot of discussion in favor of ditching the water lines on these turbos

Call Garrett and ask them about ditching the water lines. Let us know what they say.

Actually don't bother, I'll save you the trouble because I've done this already.

What they'll tell you is that they are water cooled because of the reduced amount of oil flow the BB turbo's require. Due to the nature of the BB center section, they can't handle (nor do they need) the oil flow of a traditional journal bearing center section. They reduction in flow decreases the load on the engine oiling system, the amount of drain back needed, and further reduces the drag on the main shaft of the turbo, allowing for even further improved spool up and transient response. The down side is a lack of cooling, HENCE THE NEED FOR THE COOLANT PASSAGES!!!!!

Cliffnotes: Don't plug up your coolant lines unless you don't care about the longevity of your expensive BB turbo.

I found this site for CA18det turbo lines.http://www.frsport.com/FR-Earl....html

Is the line going from the block to the turbo that much different? Why does it look so small?
