Well my old eclipse had a hacksaw mod. cut the bish short and get a universal knob that is hollowed out and has several set screws to hold it on. It came off every once in a while but then I used locktite on the set screws and wrenched them down.

DO NOT TRUST those universal knobs man, they pop off all the time. What if your pulling into traffic, and it pops off. Your gonna end up a sitting duck in traffic, and another 240 dead!(its ok if it was in an eclipse, KIdding of course) Don't cheap out on mods that are life threatening. Just my thoughts

i made a short throw shifter from a stock 240sx shifter. i took a shifter plate and and cut out the inside, so i essentially had a spacer that had the 6 bolt holes. then i cut and extended the portion of the shifter that is the gear selector. the spacer was 1/4" and so i extended the shift rod 1/4" also. put longer bolts in it and bolted it on. also i got rid of the rubber mounted shaft and welded it solid also moved it down about an inch. it worked great and held up fine. didnt rattle or anything weird.

if you have some tools it can be easily made.
