What's going on NICO. I have a N/A 300zx 5 speed slickback. And I'm trying to make it a little quicker. I know, I know. I shoulda got a TT but I got this one for a steal with only 50k miles on it. My roommate just got a 240sx with a RB25DET in it so I want to be able to at least keep up with him Lol. What mods can I do to it to help it get 350-450 horses under the hood. I'd be willing to engine swap it, is there any forums put there for a RB engine in a z32? Or maybe even an SR engine? A friend of mine told me about putting a block from a 350Z in it, add some speed and save weight too. Is that possible? Any ideas will be greatly appreciated guys!

350z engines are 280-300hp.

what's your budget, engine swaps such as a rb or probably v8 swaps aren't very cheap.

stock na vg won't get you 350-450hp, there aren't a whole lot of mods that you can do.

Money's not really a problem. I'd like to stay around 5k but if I have to spend more, I'll spend more. What engines should I be looking at.

a tt swap is your easiest solution, imo.
the most parts readily available, and the VG has a lot of potential.
you can make huge power very easily.

just to be clear, you can't get 350-450hp from a na VG or a 350z engine (VQ).

How much is that going to cost.

5,000-10,000 depending on what you want to do, this is a common question, i think there's even a FAQ for it.

So your saying a TT swap is my best bet, not to go looking at RB engine swaps?

yes, VG's can produce huge power, and parts are more readily available, and less customization and/or fabrication too.
please do your hw.

Correction, you can make 450whp from a VG30DE, and for under 5k.

Obviously on stock internals it probably wont last long but if you built it I'm sure you could get away with 5K or less. Other than that there is NO WAY to hit anywhere near those numbers on a NA.

you have to weigh the feasibility or practicality of these suggestions.
there's going to be customization and/or fabrication involved.
if i had a penny for every ls1 or rb or 2jz suggestion, i would be rich.

And, then you could do your own RB/LS1/2JZ swap! :lolling:

i'm very happy with the vg30dett, i have close to 500rwhp on a custom sz dynotune, for a daily-driver, that's really all i need.

to be very honest you will spend close to 10k for any of the swaps and maybe 7-8k if you do it your self since you are looking at 400-500rwhp. in simple terms

Easy= vgtt swap front clip close to3-5k with most stuff the other 5k= major mods (set of rods pistons injectors and jwt 700 turbos)=swap at 400-450rwhp on medium boost. stock vgtt can easy put down 350 with boost turned up on stock turbos

BADASS Swaps( will come with time and headaches but different in the end)

LS1,2,7 motor=3-10k another3-5k in labor/fab = 350-400 rwhp(stock) plus you will need either a gm ecu or ems($500-$1500) this will also save you about 150-200lb(no intercooler piping, turbos and LS are aluminum)

rb will be about the same as LS swap but it will put at 300-350rwhp by turing up the boost on the stock turbo. most ppl upgrade the to a bigger single which will cost another 2-3k this will put you at 400-450rwhp(same as a vgtt for less)

2jz same as rb

if money is not an issue i would do ls1/2 you can later build it cams headers intake and tune =500 rwhp or put a blower on it and easily put out 600rwhp

Cheapest and easiest, swap in (insert American V8 here) and call it a day.

Best (IMHO) is a VG30DETT swap.

Stupidest, RB swap. Try getting parts for an RB stateside. ZFreak did it and IIRC it was a $30k project, not including the car.

Tell that to TTkickedin; according to him it's a 3k swap....

a lot of these swaps, your budget has to be crazy high because there's fabrication and customization involved.

and let's be honest, we don't swap these monster engines to run stock or factory boost, we do these swaps so we can increase the boost.

a rb engine, to me, is like a jdm vg....you have to rebuild them, new pistons, new rods, new internals, etc.

then you're talking new turbos, a nice boost controller, upgraded fuel injectors, upgraded exhausts, and it gets pretty expensive.

You do know I was being sarcastic right not that I believe it could be done for anywhere near 3k like I had posted in the thread. Cheapest rb swap I have heard was still around 15k when all was said and done and it didn't make anymore power than a moderately upgraded tt.

i was just speaking in general, i'm on a few forums, and numbers are often throw around regarding ls1 swaps, 2jz swaps, rb swaps....and most of these guys don't even mod their cars.
it gets pretty expensive.

Gonna be a bit short of your goal with 5k. Double it and you'll be able to do a TT swap and a few mods and come close to your 350.

Why not just sell it and buy a TT. Easy solution.
