yes, VG's can produce huge power, and parts are more readily available, and less customization and/or fabrication too.ZDriver32 wrote:So your saying a TT swap is my best bet, not to go looking at RB engine swaps?

you have to weigh the feasibility or practicality of these suggestions.ShinHed wrote:I'd go LS1. Seriously.
And, then you could do your own RB/LS1/2JZ swap!vulcanrush wrote: if i had a penny for every ls1 or rb or 2jz suggestion, i would be rich.
i'm very happy with the vg30dett, i have close to 500rwhp on a custom sz dynotune, for a daily-driver, that's really all i need.DCaff300ZX wrote:And, then you could do your own RB/LS1/2JZ swap!vulcanrush wrote: if i had a penny for every ls1 or rb or 2jz suggestion, i would be rich.
Tell that to TTkickedin; according to him it's a 3k swap....BigTDogg (MA) wrote:Stupidest, RB swap. Try getting parts for an RB stateside. ZFreak did it and IIRC it was a $30k project, not including the car.
a lot of these swaps, your budget has to be crazy high because there's fabrication and customization involved.Z-owned wrote:Tell that to TTkickedin; according to him it's a 3k swap....BigTDogg (MA) wrote:Stupidest, RB swap. You do know I was being sarcastic right not that I believe it could be done for anywhere near 3k like I had posted in the thread. Cheapest rb swap I have heard was still around 15k when all was said and done and it didn't make anymore power than a moderately upgraded tt.vulcanrush wrote: a lot of these swaps, your budget has to be crazy high because there's fabrication and customization involved.
and let's be honest, we don't swap these monster engines to run stock or factory boost, we do these swaps so we can increase the boost.
a rb engine, to me, is like a jdm vg....you have to rebuild them, new pistons, new rods, new internals, etc.
then you're talking new turbos, a nice boost controller, upgraded fuel injectors, upgraded exhausts, and it gets pretty expensive.
i was just speaking in general, i'm on a few forums, and numbers are often throw around regarding ls1 swaps, 2jz swaps, rb swaps....and most of these guys don't even mod their cars.Z-owned wrote:You do know I was being sarcastic right not that I believe it could be done for anywhere near 3k like I had posted in the thread.
