Evanarc wrote:so wait, guy..pretty much u cut out the section of black plastic pipe that connects to the throttle bodyand reconnected the section w/ the vacuum seals to new stainless pipes?
let me take a guess at answering my own question:3 .5"?Evanarc wrote:so qsiguy what are the measurements of those metal pipes you swapped in?
Please post pictures/write-up of it. I'd really like to see this being done and being able to see the steps involved.mtcookson wrote:I'm planning on changing around my intake setup as well but am thinking about just doing a custom "box" for a cone filter to sit in and utilize the stock cold air inlet.
If I do the fender thing though that would allow me to remove the stock cold air inlet possible allowing more air to the condenser and radiator.
Probably going with the AEM dry filter so it should filter quite well... according to their marketing.qship96 wrote:Anyone going to a "cone" or other non-standard paper OEM type air filter, please post your used oil analysis to show you are not accelerating engine wear due to increased silicon {dirt} getting thru the fancy filter!
3.5" diameter. I got the stainless from Verocious Motorsports, an ebay seller. I also got the silicone couplers from them. I got a lot of stuff from them for my turbo project. I highly recommend them. I bought a straight section and several U bends in stainless 3.5" from them to use for making CAI's and various projects. You could make both pieces I did with one 3.5" U-bend and some 1" tubing. The 1" stuff I use at work so I had it around. You could probably find some aluminum tubing. I went with stainless because that's what I made my MAF flanges out of and wanted to use like metals so just went that route. You can't weld aluminum to stainless so that was out for most of it anyway.Evanarc wrote:so qsiguy what are the measurements of those metal pipes you swapped in? any other advice on what material i should use?like those red clamps you have, where can I get em?
It's tough to see but when you remove the airbox you'll see the hole going through to behind the headlights. This would also be a great place to get cold air.Evanarc wrote:......and realized all the way to the right like on the drivers side of the engine compartment almost where the side marker lamp is, there is an outlet with a rubber splashguard..gave me some ideas..
The reason is knowledgeable car owners avoid them like the plague as trapped dirt from dust and rain make a fine polishing compound that grinds into the paint where the bra touches it.Haitian_King wrote: I can't believe you put a bra on your Q. I've never seen that done to a Q before.
Good to know. I'll definitely add that to my list after getting the repaint.maxnix wrote:The reason is knowledgeable car owners avoid them like the plague as trapped dirt from dust and rain make a fine polishing compound that grinds into the paint where the bra touches it.
Clear 3M type bras are the way to go the last ten years. Best if your paint is perfect, as in brand new or just filled, sanded and resprayed.
