Your base S will not have the wires. Manual windows and locks means no pre-wire(non-power package). The good news is that your car has the solenoids for power locks already. I added a Viper alarm to the factory locks, works great!aidan80 wrote:I’ve got the 1.8 S just the base model with a manual transmission manual windows/locks..etc
Thanks!
Install the Viper Alarm will give you that option, either yourself or get a pro to do it.PaulRay wrote:Steed77 My wife wants me to add the power lock to my base S 09 Versa. I just want to be able to use a keyless flob to unlock and lock the doors. How did you go about doing this to you car in detail?
I got a professional alarm installer to quote me on my base 2009 Versa S without the power locks. He said that some Versas have the actuators and some don't. He'll have to see mine. If mine has the actuators built in already, he said that he can install an alarm with the keyless entry for around $500. That's $120 for the alarm, and $75 per door labor cost. Is this price fair?NODES wrote:

Here in Canada it does make a difference if you have an alarm drops the insurance a bit.PaulRay wrote:I know Best Buy has a keyless entry made by Viper for $120 with installation included. But thats if your Versa already have the actuators in the door. Thats the route I plan on going. I see no point of a alarm system because it does not make you car insurance any cheaper. And does anybody pay any car any attention when a alarm goes off anymore?
That is crazy.. My Viper was ~200 bucks. The versa HAS actuators.... it's part of the lock/latch in the door. Run 2 wires (speaker wire) to the rear doors, the front doors will require 3 wires. I had installed the small speaker leads and just pushed them on the pins.Cash_22 wrote:

is he offering you a trip to Florida while you wait for the installer to finish?Cash_22 wrote:

Seriously... that price seems outrageous to me..NODES wrote:

I bet there is a few that regret not getting one.CrankyVersa wrote:This is why i bought a SL in the first place LOL!

Thanks for the update. I was going to go to Best Buy this week but your bad news saved me from the trip. I guess the $500 quote I got was fair because that comes with an alarm already. But, I would like to try to install it myself.PaulRay wrote:Bad news, I just took my versa s to the best buy to install the keyless entry, since my car had no power options. The guy at best buy said he couldn't install it without ordering the extra parts needed for it. My car has the actuators, but not the wiring to hook everything up. So with the initial 139.99, it was gonna be another $180.00 for each set of doors for a total of $499.99. So I turned it down and got my money back for the viper kit. Guess I'll be living with no keyless entry with the car that has no power door locks. He did say that the car was prewired for power windows though, lol.
I know, they get better deals on everything it seemsNODES wrote:

Still the US has way cheaper rates for insurance.
My brother did the install himself on my dad's sunfire. He bought the power door lock kit off ebay, and spent an entire day but accomplished it. The car has no power options in it. No power windows, no a/c, no power locks. Just a base Sunfire that my dad bought as a commuter car back in 2001. He installed the alarm and power door locks himself. You just have to have the patience to do it and maybe a friend to help you with the install; but it can be done!PaulRay wrote:Bad news, I just took my versa s to the best buy to install the keyless entry, since my car had no power options.
