how pissed-off would the RB guys be if I put a KA in a Skyline?

In an article from super street, yashio factory bought a USDM 240sx from some importer, but sadly, they swapped in an SR. No KA-T for them

all 91-93 KADE cams are 240 intake and 248 exhaust, nothing any more special on the 91 than the other two years.

DE pistons start bending at around 400 hp.

well I know L guys sometimes use KA24 pistons in 3.1 strokers so they should be stout enough for 300hp at 1bar. Those cam figures sound good enough to move that much air.

240/248 cams are found in 91-early 93 S13. Late 93 cams are the same as S14 cams (232/232). If the motor has secondary butterflies, its got the 240/248 cams. They removed the butterflies and switched to 232/232/cams in late 93.

the truck ka has a bigger flywheel and clutch. the truck clutch matches the l series clutch(have heard but not seen). i know you have some l motor stuff right?

if you are doing the sohc i would modify or fab up the rocker arms to be solid instead of hydro.

intake manifold stinks on ka motors. fab that too.

the truck motors have junk cams so you would want cams from a car(stanza/240 for sohc, or altima/240 for dohc).

it seems if the swap from ka to rb in a usdm 240 can be done relatively simply, you should be able to do it no problem, just my two cents though.. i would fab all the subframe mounting stuff and take the opportunity to incorporate a tighter steering race and mount the engine lower and further back...also check out ivan at phat ka-t and his test on comp cams stage three.. i think he made somewhere near 350 wheel mostly stock( head work was i think all that was done) on 10 pounds. would love to see pics and video if/when this beast lives...

You most definately need to swap in a ZD30DD, and turbo it. Nothing like a turbo-diesel Skyline to whip up on those Volkswagens!

KA in a Skyline is an interesting idea. I don’t know if you would win any races with it. Most the people that would go vs. a skyline would expect a more powerful engine.

I think the S14 is a great car to install the RB25 and 26 in. It has a lot in common with the Skyline. Mostly suspension. Plus the RB25 and 26 are a lot better IMHO just becuse the short stroke.

I have broken more than a few hearts with a paltry 250HP RB20, a 300HP KA should defend it's honor, chumps run thick and the streets are a target-rich environment.

I will have a diesel, as soon as my buddy finds one for me. that's a future thing though, "these aren't the droids you are looking for"

Anybody know anything about these guys manifolds?http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...=WDVW

It has a T2 flange so I could put the T300 on the wife's CA18 and use her S14 on the KA. The price is right but Ebay manifold give me bad vibes.

well the seller only has two bad responses and for $200 I expect it to crack in 6-months but I generally expect that from any stainless manifold. If I do the KA it will not stay in the car a long time.

Cash is going to be tight it seems. I think I am going to have to sell my bike and get a sensible car when I get back for daily driving. Would a silvia or 180SX with a KA still be cool? USEM-spec United States Export Market the S13 has the advantage of being a lighter car, I beat two RB20DET Skylines with a 150HP CA18DE in mine. The KA being 2.4 liters is bound to have more nuts down low in NA trim than the little buzzsaw CA I had, dam that motor was pissed off. If I do that instead of the Skyline I would also leave it in so it would be a lon-term fun thing. Think A-spec dash, left hand drive
