8-10psi, the car stock will do 15 psi though with a good tune daily driver.

depends alot on the turbo. i better question to ask is how much power can you make with a stock ka. 350ish rwhp seems to be the safe limit and can last years. 400rwhp is where the pistons will fail

wrd on what structure said. a different turbo at the same psi can make different power levels.

well it is the stage 1 turbo kit from boostdesigns and i might buy the kit or do an sr swap i dont know yet and if i get more power out of a KA-T than a SR20DET then i will get the turbo kit and if it is also cheaper. that is more of my dilema

with the right feul setup and tunning that turbo will be able to hit 350rwhp no problem, which said above is the safe limit to me on the stock ka.

i still have a project i want to do of making a 350rwhp ka-t for about $5k using the BD kit as well.

to get an sr up to that level you need to upgrade all the turbo compnents. why do that if your ka is healthy and all you need is the turbo kit?

How much would a built KA be able to take with a stock sr turbo (something like a t25 or 28 not sure which one) and with a t3t4...Im starting out with the stock sr turbo cause its free and then once i get enough money i am upgrading to t3t4 but i would imagine the turbo would blow with a t25 before anything would be affected in a built motor right?

I have the same questions....

How much boost can the S15 T28 be running in order to be equivalent to a t3/t04 running 8psi?

I was thinking maybe like 15-18psi...and if it is really that high, thats supposed to be safe?

I also have a question on this subject. Lets say both stock internal engines are the same. Now if one turbo make 350hp at 9-10psi and another turbo makes 350hp at 14-15psi which is worse on the engine. Since they are both at the 350hp mark, is higher boost going to blow rings or is it just he 350hp mark that start to break down the engine. Now take into account both engines are tuned correctly. I have always wondered is it the HP or PSI that wears down stock engines.

its both, tho high psi on a rather small turbo(T25-28), will wear down the engine faster than a T3-T04 at less psi because the smaller turbo is pumping more heat than the bigger turbo.

The small turbo will choke (sp?) the 2.4L motor up top. I believe MarkEMark was having issues with a T3. So the question is not how much the built KA can take with and SR turbo... is how much the SR turbo can give it. I believe the limit in the 2.0L SR motor is like 15PSI... I'm thinking in the KA it won't go past 12PSI.

As others have said b4, its NOT how much psi the stock ka motor can handle... Its how much horsepower the motor can handle..

Right now the record on stock block that we know of is 404 RWHP.....

Someone out there may have done more, but we only know of the people that post on this forum..

I have pushed as much as 16 psi on my stock block ka motor which is about ~315 rwhp...

And lets NOT compare the sr motor to the ka motor... SO SO Many factors are in place when u compare 2 motors...!!!

I'm not trying to sound like an a** but this is the only why I know how to say this

You can't come to the KA-T forum and ask for an impartial opinion on which engine is better. Your best place to look for an answer to your question is the search button.

No offense, but this is almost the worst thread I've read all week.

Lets grab a glove and get in the game here fella's.

Here's what we look for in a question. We need specifics. If you want to know what is better, ask what is better, don't beat around the bush with 1000 scenario's.

Here's an idea... What is the car going to used for? What is your budget? When do you want the turbo to spool by?

The answer has been given to your main question, the stock KA24DE will run all day at 350whp. Assuming you have enough fuel and timing control. So average out the price of a kit that will get you to 350 whp. You'll need bigger injectors and a way to control them. You'll need a way to retard timing on boost. You'll also need a turbo big enough to support that much HP. Nothing that comes on the any model SR will get you to 350WHP. So you'll have to upgrade everything, same as with the KA.

Which motor is better? Only the owner can really decide. But the KA24DE is, in my opinion, a better motor. I've lived in Japan and been around plenty of RB's and SR's. I dislike the SR20 the most out of all the Nissan motors.

The motors go in this order for me.1, RB26DETT2, RB20DET3, KA24DET4, RB25DET5, FJ20DET6 SR20DET

If you have any more questions, please try to make them as specific as possible. It makes it so muc easier if we don't have to assume anything.

you left out the ca.. lol. just go ka-t because the torque will make you crap yourself. my cousin has an sr and my friend has ka-t.. the ka-t walks all over his sr and they have almost the same mods..

Same here. With almost the same $$$ put into my car than it would take to buy and install an SR I'm around 80WHP over the best SR I've seen here ... except for one with a full standalone but that is very pricey and of course it has many others mods meaning more $$$.

And, by the way, I'm having severe spark issues above 10PSI/4krpm... hoping to solve that, and trying to break the 400WHP barrier now... used to be 350WHP Just can't get enough

I though we had the search button to elimanate questions like this. and yeah the witch motor question has been beaten to death, imo the KA is the best motor. For several reasons for one it was allready under my hood, torque is bada$$, and some of the more tech stuff like oil squiters in the pistions. I had a sentra with an sr20 (nasperated) and I loved that car/motor but Like WD said It more so depends on what your gonna do with the car or what the DRIVER WOULD PREFER, IE the ka will make more torque down low but your not gonna be able to rev the piss out of it like you can an SR (with the chance of overheating) All motors have advantages and short commings if you would have searched I bet you would find something and don't just search once, sometimes you need to search the archived posts the info you find is 99% of the time all you will need.

There is NO which is better... Its all a matter of preference. Both are good motors and will last long if they are properly maintained and tunned..!!

The SR motor has most of the crowd right now simply because back in the day a few people tried to turbo the ka, didnt do any tunning and kept cranking up the boost and ended up blowing the motors..Then the ka motor got a bad rap as the "motor that cant handle boost"

F' them, the ka motor has PLENTY of potential providing it is DONE RIGHT..!!!

well the motor is going to be driven hard like as in i drive to work everyday and can literally do 115 to work (top speed limiter) and i drift on almost on like a daily bases so i think i need a motor that can handle alot of damn hard abuse. and when i mean hard, i mean hard.

You are going to need lots of money and then some! Also you are going to need a lot of money to get out of jail!! 115 is consider wreckless and dangerous driving.

well i know that but when you know there are going to be no cops and a long open road you know you would have to see what your car can do and the car is going to be used for drift as well and from what i hear the sr would be a better pic becuase you could rev the piss out of it and it wont blow as fast as the KA would and i've seen guys from japan hold an SR at about 8grand for ever while he was drifting and the motor was fine. so im still confused.

OK one thing about "drifting" your gonna beat the piss out of your car. Yes the SR is a more rev happy engine, but with proper mods your KA could be happy with more revs (Cams and valve springs mainly, since I havn't touched the head yet I really didn't look into it more but there are rocker arms and valves exc.) With the amount of abuse your car is gonna take you better have a BIG bank roll, Since your so big into drifting what Kinda LSD do you have if your gonna be serious about it I'd get a Kazz 2 way, or whatever other diff you prefer but the stock VLSD if its equiped is gonna burn out fast with alot of constant abuse. so thats 800 at least just in the LSD. I'm putting one in my 240 over the past few days, yes days, I wasn't really prep for the install and have little time. Anyways My Point was that just cuz JDM Drifter boy can hold his SR at 8 grand for an hour don't mean that your stock s13 100,xxx mile sr swap donor is gonna take that kinda abuse, With any used motor your rolling the dice on weather or not its gonna be a good motor, who is to say your gonna install it right. I guess for me a big reason that I went with a turbo KA was that I knew the motor was in good condition, with a swap you don't know Places can garentee whatever but you could still have way more downtime then you planed for with any project and think how long it would take to send motors back and forth. Anyways I noticed your In racine wis, I don't claim to know it all but I live in sheboygan so you could shoot me an e-mail ([email protected]) I'll answer most of your questions and If I can't then I'm sure I can point you in the right direction. And no I am not bias I usta drive a sentra with an SR20DE not turbo but I sold the car to my room mate and so I Know alot about those pupies too.
