old motor used to burn oil like it was going out of style, about 1.5qt per month. The SR burns none that I can tell, and the wife's 240 burns maybe a half quart.

i was kinda dissapointed when i checked how much oil was burnt off. after about 3100 miles i changed the oil and dirty oil filled 3 quart bottles(to the top of the bottle, above the quart mark) so im guessing that comes out to about 3 1/3 quarts and then the oil that was left in the filter prolly added it up to 3.5 quarts. the engine has about 83000 on it and seems to be in great condition. what r some reasons of losing oil? (i kno about leaks and mine has none)

All engines burn some oil.

Some more than others.reasons are either engine construction (depedns on engine type), ring wear, hi combustion chamber temps, or weal oils.

Anyones guess which one it is, in your case.

Hi oil consuption is not unusual in hiperformance engines.

My baby burns no oil.

274,000kms and running amazing!

In the 3 years i've owned her, the ONLY thing i've done to her are new brake pads (besides fluid changes)

My car was a little low when I first bought it, but I replaced the leaky valve cover gasket, and now I never have to add oil between changes.

I haven't checked in a little while, but I burned no oil before my last oil change.
