If you want a blue Versa, come on down to southwest Florida! We have tons of them. I've decided on a black hatchback (like the sedan, but a big too long to fit in garage) with tan interior. Oops... no black/tan around. Maybe I can find one in New York!

I bought my 08 ONYX blue last Sept of 07...I paid 15,000 + TT extended warrantyI got the SL Auto, Power, mats, spoiler, cd, cruise, kick platesI got screwed with no finance special available though...I really dont see many around this area, I was starting to belive they were not a popular choice. They are great cars, I traded my Hyundai Accent in for it. I needed a 4 door hatch (to haul lots of stuff) and the Versa was the BEST DEAL for a midsize non-gas guzzler. Plus it is much larger than the competitors...

- $21,500 OTR and out of the lot, paid in cash saved up from working. I tried getting a very BASE model, but they didnt have any. I heard that Nissan was famous for electrical problems and the last thing I wanted was more electrical so that when sheot hit the fan, I wasnt stuck between a rock and a hard place.

When you add in the rebate, and the Texas AirCheck $3K voucher for my 1990 Honda Accord, my OTD price was $12100 or so.

This car had been on the lot since July 2008, bought it last Saturday night of the quarter (3/28/09). Woohoo!

I'll be buying my first new car too soon, hopefully it will be a Versa, but it will depend on the price I get tonight when I go talk to dealer, I'm going in tonight to talk to one of the two Nissan dealers near me. The car I want is: SL 09 HB w/CVT, ABS, convenience package, and floor mats.MSRP = $18035, Invoice = $17307, and TMV = $17557 I'm eligible for 3 rebates if I finance through Nissan: the $1750 customer cash (don't need to finance through Nissan), the $750 Bonus cash, and the $500 recent grade bonus cash, for a total of $3000 in incentives. I see a lot of people are getting the car for a thousand or two less than invoice after rebates, and fitzmall.com has the same car for $13910 after rebates (the $1750 and $750 ones, doesn't include college grad), so I should be able to get it for around $13410 after all rebates, right? So, my goal should be around $16410 before rebates, taxes, title, tags? That would mean my OTD including all fee and taxes would be around $14600... Does that sound like a good price? Is the dealer likely to agree to something like that? I will be using $5000 as a down payment.Oh, and regarding the financing, my credit union will refinance the Nissan loan at the new car rate they pre-approved me for, so as long as Nissan doesn't have any sort of pre-payment penalties, or restrictions on how long you need to have the loan in order to get the rebates I plan on financing through Nissan to get the extra $1250 in rebates and then re-finance at my credit union for a lower rate. Has anyone financed through Nissan? Do they have a pre-payment penalty?? Thanks for any help, it is much appreciated!!!

I financed through Nissan when I purchased my Versa. At that time the interest was 0.9% which is not too bad, now it is 0% financing. Still much cheaper than getting a loan through my bank.

Thanks, do you know if there is a prepayment penalty? Could you pay off the loan at any time without having to pay any fees?

Thanks again!

No prepayment penalty I've ever seen, I've financed through Nissan for 2 cars, including the current Versa and haven't seen it.

Great, good to know. Thanks for your help.

Can anyone weigh in on the price I have detail above? I'm curious if I'm in the right ballpark or not. Thanks!

If you get out for under $14k after rebates you'll be doing well.

Also what is the percentage rate you can get? If its really low or 0% then I'd use a little less downpayment.

Right now our Nissan is offering 0% financing. If yours is, then I agree with Biggie. You wouldn't need to put down such a big down payment. But its up to you

I paid $10,200 (before tax and titel because i bought it in a different state) after trade for my Versa. Blue HB with power win and locks, cruise, AT. I traded in a 2000 Dakota that was 2WD and had a V8. It got like 14 mpg. i think i got a fair deal not the best but not the worst.

My tip for buying a car. Just wait them out. You don't have to buy it but they have to sell it. Just sit there and say as few words as possable. The price will just keep going down. And when they say that is their best offer say thanks and get up to walk out. The price will go down another $500.

Thanks everyone, more advice is always welcome

I don't see anything about my local dealer offering 0% or low interest other than the choice between 1750 rebate or 1.9% APR.

I used the rebate vs low interest calculator at cars.com and it looks like the rebates save me more money than the lower interest rate would,.

The rate I can get at my credit union is 5.35% for a 60 month loan, or 5.25% for a 48 month loan.

I've been saving for a while to get the down payment for the car, so I'm totally okay with putting $5000 down, I will still have a good chunk of money in savings for a rainy day. Besides, I'm not a person who deals well with monthly payments, I'd rather pay things off as soon as possible :P

Thanks all!

So, no car.

Here is what they offered me:

car price before incentives: 17073.00dealer fee: 115.00incentives: 3000.00

So, car would have been $14188 plus taxes, tags, title. I walked, I"ll see if they call me or not. Can I get it for cheaper?

Hi Ycrtsb!

How on earth did you get them down to 15760 before rebates, the best my dealer was willing was to go below invoice and split the holdback with me. Any negotiation tips? THe car I want has been on the lot since Nov 08.

What Versa model are you looking at? I can supply a VPP discount code which would drop the original price from retail. I don't know too much about your deal or what incentives they offered to say how much less it would be.

More info on the VPP deals:http://www.insidenissan.com/vpp/vendor/index.html

Here's what our system shows:

Vehicle Invoice Amount: $16,731.00Dealer Hold Back: $480.18 (subtract)Discount Price: $16,250.82Delivery Fee: $406.27 (add)Transport Cost: $720.00 (add)Current VPP Incentive: $1,750 (subtract)

VPP Price: $15,627.09

If you can get it for $14,188 + TTL, you can get it much better than an "employee's friend" discount (plan C) could get it. Not sure where they are getting the other $1,500 out of it, but it's a heck of a deal.

Thanks for checking for me Promise Land!!!

I would get two more rebates as well, the 750 for financing through Nissan and the $500 recent college grad incentive as well, so that makes the prices a bit more even.

SO, the the dealer just called and left me a message saying "I have good news for you call me back." I'll let you know what happens.

Thanks again everyone.
