I payed quite a bit for my RB25DET. :/

4000$ shipped. It's not a clip either. But.. it's a 96 and is one of the cleanest engines I've ever seen. I was amazed when I got it..

I plan on spending about 3000$ on parts and Im installing it myself.

I would pay anywhere between 3-4k for a clean one shipped. NEVER more.

the biggest problem i have is getting the motor into my car, how much should i be looking at? if a mechanic or someone who has done one before? 500-1000? for labor or...

Do it youself, then you know the engine well enough to work on it yourself as well. There's only one good way to learn, and that's to get in there and do it! If you have someone swap it, I think you'll be looking at upwards of 1k, but I'm not positive on that.

Labor rate is goin to be 600+ to take one engine out and prob some to take it out from the clip. It would be a little easier if you just grab a whole bunch of friends and hit it. What part of Socali are u in?

I am paying $1700 for my RB20 clip. I put down $200 and wait for it to come it. Suppose to be really clean....I hope lol I'll post pics when I get it.

Look at it this way:

Engine hoist = 175$Two jackstands = 30$Jack (usually free if you have one around) = 20-75$ depending on quality

+

Set of craftsman tools (metric) = 100$ -200$

Add that up and you're paying alot less than you would to have someone install it.

And, you know your work better than you know someone elses. Stupid shops and bad employee's usually just throw bolts around and lose little things etc. It really isn't worth paying someone to do unless that is the only route you have...

I didn't really know much about it, and I put the RB25DET in my S13 by myself. Check around, you can usually rent an engine hoist for $25 a day, and do the whole swap in a weekend. I do highly recommend a kit, like the one from Mckinney. Since they sold the driveshaft that is already complete, you also don't have to go looking for someone to make you a new one. my 2 cents.

Doing the work also makes you realize, that you could do a lot of the aftermarket mods yourself as well, so in the long run you will probably save some $$

DEPENS ON THE ENGINE. THE RB20 USES THE 240SX MANI SHAFT, THE RB25 USES A CUSTOM SHAFT WITH THE 300ZX FRONT YOKE AND ABOUT 3INCHES SHORTEND FROM THE LENGTH.

okay, the last question is the swap a headache? i dont really care if its time consuming, i can be without a car for a week for all i care, but if im going to run into ridiculous dumb problems id rather have someone do it for me. do people use the stock r33 motor/transmission mounts?

dude i dont mean to sound like an *** but if you have to ask that question you need to do alot more research on this swap. i garuntee 98% of your questions have already been asked and all you have to do is search for them.

I paid 3,000 for a rb26dett motor and 1,000 for a rb25 5spd transmission. I also put about 11,000 in mods in it. I don't wanna say what exactly I did to it yet till I get it back from getting tuned.

Yeah sure, I'll start a thread bout my car when I get it back from the dyno with vids and pics of it. It's gonna be a sleeper for awhile but around next spring or summer it will be lookin really nice with a gp sports zero one bodykit, new paint job, the works!
