Rates vary on many things. It can be affected by age of driver, percentage of use, annual mileage, weight of the car, type of car, HP of car, location, GPA for students, record, accidents, even your credit rating. Policies from one company to another can also be different, so the risk/exposure is different, so the rates are different.
Personally, asking everyone else what their rates are serves no purpose. There are way too many factors involved. Best thing to do is shop around. Also, ask to see a copy of the policy before you purchase it and READ your policy after you purchase it. You'ld be amazed at how many people actualy have no idea what they are or aren't covered for. Ask about all available coverages. There may be a coverage that may benefit you that you do not know about. If you have special requests, ask your agent about it. Also, do not lie on your application. In the long run, it can actually be used against you to rescind coverage. Case in point, a person applies for new insurance, and has had 2 prior theft losses in their home. He says he had none. He submits a claim. A background check reveals he had the two prior claims. Insurance company rescinds the policy on the basis that they would not have written that policy if they had known. This example is a bit extreme as also involved a fraud claim, but that doesn't mean it can't be used, say for aftermarket parts you claimed that you didn't have on the car. But if they don't ask, you don't have to tell them.
