Thats because the way Nissan designed the thing that tells your the amount of gas u have is pretty lousy. When u are parked with the vehicle faced downhill the gas gauge will show its a lot lower than it is. Opposite for facing uphill. u have to be on level surface for the most accurate reading.

Ah, this thread again!

Last April I posted that I could get 553km on my 79L tank. After changing the plugs and doing pretty much every other maintenance item on the list, I was pushing 650km on a tank, 700km if it was mostly highway. My best was around 23mpg driving from Banff, AB to Edmonton, AB, which extrapolates to 771km a tank.

(For those that don't know, Banff is in the Rocky Mountains and Edmonton isn't, so my fuel economy have had some help from Mr. Gravity )

Canadian winters kill fuel economy. With 60/40 hwy/city driving, I was getting around 20mpg on a regular basis in the summer. Now I'm in the 15-16mpg range.

I guess the newer 3.5s really are better on fuel economy.

I should be due for a spark plug, fuel filter, air filter change very soon. as soon as the snow melts and the roads clean up a bit... i can't stand the tons and tons of dirt they throw onto the roads during the winter.I don't need the extra grip! that's why Nissan gave us 4LO. i read it somewhere on the forum " 4HI gets you introuble, and 4LO gets you out"

Just filled up. Got 17.8 gallons. Did around 273 Miles. Looks like 15.33 MPG. Would like to be around 17.5. Will start with Filters. Not planning on making any weight mods, as it came all equiped. But I just filled with 87 again, as that was my first tank with the Q.

If you aren't afraid you could always not carry around your spare tire. That would drop a good bit of weight right there off...

I am consistently getting over 300 miles to a tank on my 99 Q. I tend to push things a little after the gas light comes on, and generally put between 16.5 and 17.5 gallons in the tank. I have a long laundry list of tune up items I know I need to do, but for the past 12 months I am getting the best gas mileage that I have since I bought the vehicle, just over 4 years ago now. I moved from Atlanta to Denver about 15 months ago to boot. So, I am hesitant to mess with a good thing. I tend to reflect on my fuel economy to give me an idea of how things are working in the vehicle, outside of the obvious issues. That may not be a good idea, but I figure if things are starting to fail it will effect the efficiency of the vehicle and be reflected in fuel economy. Not only that, but it hits me where it hurts, the pocket book. So for now, I am simply keeping the oil and filters changed and trucking on.

WTF!!!! MY MILEAGE IS CRAP!!!! i BARELY shave 300km on a full tank T_T

could it be my passenger side cat thats foul?? T_T i know my air filter, fuel filter and oil is good... maybe i should check my plugs and wires?

really dont want to be getting rid of my Bush guard....

Got a new cat waiting for it to come in... hopefully that would remedy some problems....

Considering the K&N intake and an exhaust system will be coming in AFTER the cats been replaced... after that... ill see what happens... anyone else got any ideas?

btw i have my days where theres a cinder block strapped to my foot....

hey roger wen u do yur spark plugs use NGK plugs, best brand to use on nissans, maybe a lil more expensive than other competitors, but they are waay better.

idk wtf to think about my pathy, maybe its the winter but im gettin like 11 or 12 mpg, but in the summer i get around 15 or 16. still not wut i like, i hear some guys on here do an electric fan conversion, k&n intake, and exhaust and get like 21. thats wut i wanna get but i doibt it with my lead foot.

It is true that winter is a brutal drop for km per liter.

I do between 280 and 320 km per tank

I have slightly bigger tire (31x10.5 R15) but I think that I shouldgo see what is the code that pop in the dash.

From what I read in here i should change my spark plugs

Someone in here change the distributor cap, is this worth it ??

I checked only once on my 02 and I got 320 miles to a tank. I have since changed the air and fuel filters, engine and transmission oil/fluid and filters and diff oil. Will check again now. Just started putting in the 97 octane gas as well. But i'll be happy with 320 to a tank.

I went from getting 14ish mpg to getting almost 17 mpg after I changed my air filter, fuel filter and spark plugs recently. The gas light would come on around 240 miles. Now when I reach 240 miles, I'm still at 1/4 tank.I'd like to see what I get after I change the motor oil and filter soon.

Ugharin, 97 octane? Where do you get that?!

I get about 300-340Km for about 60L in winter time. I dont idle much in the winter since its parked in heated garage. I usually drive about 5km to school one way and take it on small trips(1km or less) everyday.

Btw i Only changed 5/6 spark plugs, Is that Bad?

I can easily run 320 (60mph highway 87 oct) or so miles before I fill up. My concern is that I have read that my 01 qx4 has a fuel capacity of 21.1 gallons, but I filled up two days ago from the 1/8th of a tank blue line and I only put in ~15 gallons. Where is my additional ~6? I read in a previous post about a 5 gallon reserve, is that true? Also, if this is in the wrong area please re-direct me.
