I own a 90 and when i fill up the car i always reset the mileage check thing. When i end up getting to empty the mileage is usually around 210 give or take 10. What does everyone else get. I think this is horrible gas mileage. let me know

geesh, sounds like what about 15 mpg? i dont know how big your tank is, but that's bad...i get around 28mpg on my s14, but a ton of that is country driving, not much stop and go. Right now with a bad o2 sensor i've dropped down noticably but havent clocked it yet...ast

Replace ur 02 sensor... I was getting about around there with my 93 240sx. After I replaced mine I can hit 300 + or - 10.

I think i get the exact same mileage as you sohc90adel,but it's weird,i get like 70 sometimes even 90 miloes per 1/4 tank, but the more i drive the more i seem to be burning.o2 sensor eh?

BTW i refuel after 3/4 of the tank is empty never below that,so i probably get around 250-260miles per tank, which is still too low.

I have an '89 and I'm getting the exact same mileage, I was also told by a Nissan tech that it's more than likely my O2 sensor. Just FYI.

I'm getting about 250 miles per full tank. If the O2 is bad should the check engine turn on?

The tank is supposed to take 15.7 gallons. I get about the same milage (210 per tank). I am about to change out my fuel filter and o2 sensor. I just had a tuneup and replaced my injectors. I am also thinking about replacing my fuel pump as I think there is something wrong with it as I never put more than 12 gallons in it (the sending unit is attached in the 90 and either that or the float is not giving correct readings to the gauge and the low fuel light doesn't work).

Any other sensors or cleaning that should be done that anyone knows of to improve gas milage?

Did anyone ever change the o2 sensor and get to the normal 24 25 mpg mark?

Just for the hell of it, I pulled my o2 sensor today, as i am also getting "bad" mileage. The end looks kind of splotchy, mostly medium gray, but one little spot was white, and the other side was kind of black. What should I be looking for to see if it is actually bad? I thought maybe i was running rich, since when i drive hard, the car kind of smells of gas. But it only smells like gas near the back of the car. I check constantly for a leak in the lines, but never see one. So, I thought the o2 sensor was the problem. But, now im thinking thats not it. Because, if the car sits for more than an hour or so, it loses the prime in the fuel system, and i have to leave the key in the on position for a few seconds before i start the car. is it possible i have a leak in one of the return lines that is causing the problem? or would it only be the lines that pump gas straight to the engine? I know this is a little off topic, but i figure someone has got to have some ideas!

Sounds like you may have a problem with your fuel pump. And if the o2 sensor has discoloration and you don't know when it was last replaced, you should replace that too!

I would have a heart attack if I could get in the area of 250! Once I get my parts next week (o2 sensor, fuel filter, and injen intake) we'll see what kind of improvement I get!

I'm doing better than I thought, if I'm really hard on the car I will get about 310 miles, around town taking it easy I get about 340-350, and highway close to and above 420 miles per tank.

u ka24e guys know that the fuel injectors were bad for those model years right, '89-'90. that might be a reason. but i would think its tune up time. air, fuel, plugs, plug wires, oil change. if u ka24e guys need fuel injectors i have a set of venom that i never installed. car had engine fire 3 days before injectors came. so i got a set of 4 venom injectors brand new and 1 oem injector from nissan. BTW i was getting about 21mpg even with leaking. one last thing anyone have a need for a Dinan chip. according to book it gives +15 hp and +18 torque. i have to check for exact #'s. let me know

Tap--everything you have mentioned--I have already done! The one thing I have not done is the O2 sensor. Well there is also the Injen Intake I am going to be putting on before the end of the month!

I have a 93, and when I bought the car used 1 month ago I was getting 15 MPG, and was pissed. Since then I have replaces the fuel filter, o@ sensor, plugs, intake filter, and used some stuff called seafoam, and this past half tank I got 160 for 7 gallons, which is 23MPG, a LOT better. Worth the money invested.

Miles per "tank" is a pretty inaccurate way of calculating things. Fuel gauges are inaccurate, and everyone fills up at a different point.

I tend to go 300 miles on my 1990 coupe before filling up. It generally takes 13 to 13.5 gallons... So I'm getting 22-23 MPG. I thought mine was bad, but I guess some of you have it much worse.

When I bought the car, it was getting 19-20MPG. I changed oil, did cap, rotor, wires, plugs, and that definitely got things running smoother. I think it also helped the gas mileage, but this warmer weather is helping, too. In the winter, mileage tends to be worse. BTW, this car has 192k miles on it.

AHHHH!

I get 170 for 10 gallons which is about 14mpg and I'm going crazy trying to figure out the problem. I wish to see over 200 miles per 10 gallons.

My idle is crap and fluctates even even in nuetral and I'm not sure if I'm running rich or what. Replaced Injectors and Connectors for injectors.

90240sx sucks I want a newer 240.

Not a math wizard are we? 170 over 10 is 17 chief.... so you are getting better mileage than you think.

BTW... check for vacuum leaks, those tend to cause 99% of all idle problems with the 240.

making sure everything is flowing as smoothly through ur engine as posible helps gas milage alot. seems like the 02 sensor is helping ppl with it alot but ur ignition and fuel delivery system will help. Ur air filter could be neglected too, and if u have an intake just clean the filter and let it dry completly. if u got the stock intake i'd say get a short ram or cold air to help with ur milage
