Don't know your market, but your efforts will surely help it sell.

Be patient and keep doing the cosmetic things and docucment the filters.

If you don't know if the timeing chain guides have been replaced (see the article in the stickies above!), don't even start it except to show it. Keep it on a trickle charger.

It is easy to spend $14,000 [at a discount shop] in repairing and restoring an old Q:Transmission $3,000AC system $2,000Injectors $2000Plenum hoses $1,000Valve cover oil leaks and spark plugs $750Power steering leaks and problems $250-$1500Rear subframe $1,000Driveshaft $750Engine mounts $500Transmission mounts $200Turbine sensor $700Rear main seal leak $600Shocks $750Upper links and tension rods and third links and kingpin $1200

Two of us are replacing my hood and passenger fender and replacing passenger side fuel rail and injectors all on Saturday.

I found a free Q with perfect gray paint to replace the bad paint from 1992 accident repair. It took 16 years to go bad so I cannot fault the body shop just not up to as built Japanese standards.

Tech are those prices for the part plus labor, labor alone, Or just the parts?

I ask because Some of the stuff is not very accurate, no offense

After 20 year of dealing with a Q my quotes are always within 5%

Parts and labor at $85 per hour.I have used discount parts where we have studied them and and my personal allowed substitutions for oem MSRP.

All in all they are very very conservative pricing, obviously some discounts could apply if multiple related components were changed during the same process [if the shop would cut you a deal]

At one time [NOT NOW] we offered Nico members the ability to buy a Q45 technican day for $1,000 [flat rate labor] and you tipped him [say $100] as to how hard you wanted him to work in a 10 hour period Go get his lunch of Lobster and fillet, mop his brow, open his drinks for him etc.

I pay the moonlighting techs $45 an hour on Saturday-Sunday to do my personal work and help as I can I'm 61 and have a bad back.

I can rebuild a Q in a week with 2 techs [except for engine/transmission internals].

I really feel for those that must pay dealer labor and MSRP parts.

I haven't paid such labor rates since 1997 otherwise I would have had to $7,000 to the work I've had done since 100k.

Maybe these $85 or $45 dollar labor rates are one of the reasons I still drive a 323,000 mile 1990 Q45.

When I first started using T3 in May 1997 [chain guides] the labor rate was $45 per shop hour.It has now increased to $85- $95 vs $120-125 at most ATL dealers. It is still grossly underpriced for the service rendered.

Diagnostics on some subsystems require time and expensive test equipment thus the $95 per real hour.

See a chiropractor who uses the Impulse adjusting instrument....it works wonders.
