Ok I just got another Z this time 6 speed manual with 60k miles. Previous owner said the clutch is still the stock clutch it came with and everything. I'm starting to wonder if my Z needs a new clutch because sometimes it would be hard to put onto 3rd gear/4th gear sometimes. The shifter is pretty stiff compared to my old honda i had which was way easier to drive compared to this Z. I love the power on the Z and glad i got a 6 speed now

^ don't listen to him he has 0% user rating...and he drive's a auto.

Clutches vary on how you use it and rarely material failure. Unless you went cheap, you get what you paid for. I had a clutch last 10 years OEM stock.

Simple test is to go to a flat parking lot. At rest, put it in third and pull out the clutch real slow. If the car starts to move, your clutch is fine.

If you have an 03 and 04 model, the synchros are weak and they do grind.

If you ask me..if you are not grinding.., I don't think it's the clutch. Sounds like a disengagement problem. Not an engagement.

Check out the master and slave cylinders and bleed them of fresh fluid. If your engagement is on top of the clutch travel, I would suggest adjusting the pedal.

I had mine replaced at 45k......same time I had the transmission replaced.I am not a fan of the stock clutches I would suggest putting an aftermarket into it if you do change it.

There is also a girl in the Z club I'm in that went 105k miles before she had to change out her clutch.

If you never abuse the clutch then it can last you a very long time...

Its hard to say how long it will last. i had a 04 redline track edition at one point and its was still fine on stock clutch up to 40K miles(when i sold it) and i beat on it pretty hard LOL

if you decide to get a new clutch get with me cause we offer discounts, free shipping and a free t-shirt to NICO members. you will also pick up a 12-20 WHP once you get rid of that heavy dual mass flywheel and go with a light weight steel one. more power is always good!

Sorry to tell you but the old Z's had syncro problems, i know, i have one, if i shift too fast the gears grind(only 3rd and 4th), kinda sucks.

If you dont believe me look up "350z transmission" on google. Nisan replaced alot of them, but they never made a recall because it would cost them wayyyy too much money.

Hugh??

at least i don't make posts entitled:

"how do i make my car look better"zerothread?id=406898

"When do i get an oil change?"zerothread?id=412925

and my favorite....

I did a bumper tuck, but now i can see whats under my carhttp://forums.nicoclub.com/zerothread?id=416619

First of all you need to search before you start a thread, and second of all, you need to stop making retarded posts which have no benefit what-so-ever. And to any moderators who see this, you must agree with the the fact that there is no room on NICO for random uneducated comments.
