Find the FSM for your vehicle, it should have step by step instructions.

Just let it go?

Seriously though you need to have your car up high enough to slide the trans out, then you need to drain the fluid. remove your driveshaft and undo all the bolts holding the trans to the motor. remove the crossmember while supporting the trans and slowly lower it to a point where you can slide it out. I think its easiest to remove the shifter and spin the trans upside down before pulling it because the starter hump will cause problems. Also loosening your motor mounts helps slightly.

Lastly, this advice is not 100% full and precise, this is just a basic rundown on the obvious steps. There will be other things you could run into that i didnt because i removed an automatic trans and replaced it with a 5 speed... I do know its preferred that your shifter is in the neutral position when its removed/installed and dont forget to disconnect all the plugs before removing

you could have probabley looked up a transmission swap tutorial, but i'm really bored so I will do it without pics thou also all this is based on a s13,

1.drain the transmission fluid/gear oil. for the manual transmission remove all your interior boots rubber and leather so you can see your transmission through your shifter hole, your going have to remove your center console to get to them.

1a. remove your slave cylinder from the transmission, 2 bolts

2.you need to un-do your driveshaft and slide it out, It four bolts for lock washers imediately in front of you rear differential, i think these are 14mm.

3.Next drop you transmission rear mount and exhaust bracket the rear mount it is pretty much right below your shifter and held in by 4 bolts that are 17mm? the exhaust bracket it held on by 2 14mm I think..

4.unplug all the sensors, this would also be a good time to remove your shifter

5. undo all the bellhousing bolts and starter bolts, the top ones can be tricky, but you can get to them easier by putting a jack on the front of the engine and tilting it up or down accordingly, I have pretty small arms so i just wormed my arm to where ever the bolt is and undid it with a 12 sided, you could also undo them with a racket and an ungodly amount of extensions/swivels. all the bolts should be 14mm.

6.hold the transmission up with transmission jack, if you do not have one just make sure you have enough jacks underneath it so that when you wiggle it off it will not smash on the ground (or your arm, head, etc)

7.wiggle the transmission off the engine, at first it will be on their pretty tight but just keep working with it and eventually it will start to slide off, and come off completely

8.lower the transmission

I don't think I forgot anything forgive and correct me if I'm wrong. also when your doing this have some labeled bags for your hardware that your removing. also that i based this on the s13.

A FSM is a Factory Service Manual - it is basically the bible to your 240sx - for taking off things - installing things - repairing things etc.
