Ok I've been around here for a while... I've seen alot of yall's cars sittin real low, like, race car track only low. I've got coilovers and I love the way my car looks when I drop it like that, but I cant drive around here with it lower than 5.5 inches off the ground. I'm still like 2 inches lower than the stock 4x4 but if I go any lower than the lowest my jack can handle (that how I know it's 5.5 inches) I bottom out everywhere. I cant go over big bumps, bad driveways or oversized speed bumps now still without catching the frame rails. And here I see so many cars that I know are daily driven with body kits of some kind be it just a front lip or whatever that are just slammed and I just cant help but wonder HOW IN THE HELL do these people drive these cars and get around anywhere without high centering and getting stuck on every little speed bump or steep drive or rough ramp at a gas station.. there are so many places I couldn't go if my car were that low. It would cause so many problems it would be un real. I wouldn't even be able to get off the mtn I live on cause the road has transitions that my car 3 wheels and scrapes on now. So WTF??

Maybe you should live somewhere else? :P

Drive up sideways next to the ramp, turn wheel into the direction of the ramp, drive up it sideways.

Very carefully. Although my 240 serves as my main daily driver, I know there are certain places it can't go. Get to know the streets, the potholes, railroad tracks, and speed bumps of the roads you mostly travel. I'll take a detour if needed to in order to avoid bottoming out, but I do the normal as everyone else. Go sideways on driveways, keep a good look out for bad roads, and stop traffic for 1/2 a mile so I can creep up that crazy speed bump without scraping LOL. It also helps that I have other vehicles to drive when I'm completely unsure of the roads.

I drive just like everyone else stated. I also just hold up traffic when I need to, in order to not destroy my exhaust.

Yeah My exhaust is getting beat up by my drive way and I also only have a 2" drop on the dd.

The post office between my work and home is a 1 way drivethrough setup, at the end its the worlds largest speed bump. stock cars scrap it. they never fixed and it'll be yellow one week and the top completely scrapped off and then it'll be yellow again. So I park across the street to get there. It sucks when you're city hates lowered cars for some reason.

Alot of people round here that are slammed will know exactly how far their headlights/bumper supports are off the ground after the cop measured and told them a few times.

Long story short, if you like your car that low you get used to it. But be prepared to repair your undercarriage every now and again.

You are going to hit a lot of things. The city I live in has a horrible road system. Honestly all of Iowa has some pretty s*** roads. Sleep bumps are not an options. I have to jack up my car from the rear or it will not fit under the front. I lift from the diff, then the transmission cross member. Most people need to use blocks to get under the diff. Luckily I have a really low jack, but it does scrape my gas tank.

You take the hits like a victim in a domestic violence case. Somethings you can avoid, some you can't. You learn to observe and measure with your eyes and you'll soon remember what's too "tall" to get over or whats to "deep" to ride over. Soon it will become second nature and you won't have to even think about it. I'll drive in a stock sonata or camry and cringe at pot holes and speed bumps and do my best to avoid them, then realize I'm not in the 240 anymore :p

i feel like my cars far lower than most in this thread.

you'll get good at reading what obstacles there are, and you'll get even better when something sneaks up on you and rips off your front sway bar and bends your engine crossmember/dents oil pan/shifts the steering rack.

now im really really good!

Here's a bit of perspective for you:

He's as low, if not lower than you, on 18s. You're on 16s.

You're both low, but being that low on 18s isn't easy.

many of the beat up ziptied 240s get the damage from somthing other than drifting man, theres horro stories of guys losing brand newly painted aero on the freeway and shattering bumpers like glass on backroads at night...many pics you se the car is that low for the pictures only then its raised....the rest of the super low 240 guys just do the damn thing man...if it gets thrashed, so be it.
i tried to lower my old hatch waay low, tucking tires and almost got stuck on a speedbump...i hit a squirrel once and i found it inside my bumper...
dont sweat it man, just go low and have fun...fix what breaks...

you cant put a knuckle between my sway bar and the pavement in a level parking lot. and thats after a third of its thickness has been scraped off.

a friend of mine (drunk night) tossed my keys and they slid under my car. they had to lift up the rear end and push my car forward just to get the keys. no fitting under frame rails.

take routes you know, drive on the flattest part of the street even if that is in the other lane, get used to the sound of scraping, stare at your car and realize it is obviously worth it to be that low.

...and your car's not even that hot. It's low enough. I could post up uderside pictures, but you should already know that the frame, exhaust, crossmembers hangs lower than the body of the car.

Take routes I know, I don't really drive my 240 that far unless i'm driving to the track or work, and just watch for potholes, etc

U get used to it! there are certain ways to go over speed bumps. I noticed, as long as i have both wheels on the same side (driver, passenger) on the bump its self, it will never scrape. But one unforeseen problem was getting it on a trailer, i actually got stuck one of those U-hual full car trailers and it took an hour and a half to get my car off it. I learned, as long as u have the trailer facing down hill and phone books under each ramp, u will only scrape a little and not high center.

Yep, I think so. You can brag when you have matching paint on all panels and matching wheels.Until then, get over yourslef. As stated above, your car doesn't look all that great. noone likes an attention whore
