I remember someone had mentioned how to do it. I can't find the post though.

I pretty much have everything LED besides my mirrors in the visor. Those will get done next week.

Last night I changed my front and rear turn signals. Just went with bright white bulbs, no LED's cause I was told that they'll flicker fast. So now, when I hit the turn signal my front and rear is white but my side marker is F'N orange and it's really annoying me :poke: Need to take care of that ASAP.

Thanks Six Legs.

Was there some kind of a drill needed or no?

It'seasy. After getting the sside marker renoved...disconnect bulb housing. Then get a razor blade and trace around the edge of the glass housing where the rubber part meets the plastic. Do this a few times. Then separate the plastic cover. Once you have light housing exposed, get a flathead screw driver and push out the middle chrome orange piece. It will separate from the housing and fall through. Then get some clear super glue and trace around edges and put back together. Then go install bulb of your choice and voila you have cleared out th
e side markers.
It's pretty simple

I did it without taking the lens apart and it only took me about 5 minutes each

Same... use a small drill to "gut" the lens. You won't have to worry about condensation that way as the seal stays intact.
Thanks 06M4.5!

F**K! How did you guys do that with a drill bit?

I ended up taking it all apart and used a Krazy glue gel after to seal everything.

Sooo...

How did you guys get this done with a drill bit? I F***** mine up. There's moisture in there now. I just ordered new ones!

I want to try again. I just want to do it a better way.

I'm still trying to figure out what you guys did with the drill bit? I have my new side markers sitting here and I'm dying to gut them correctly and install them.

I'm bad with posting pictures.

I just want to know how to "gut" it with a small drill bit?

We all know what it looks like. I just don't want to take the drill gun and crack the lens.

Three things:

1) Buy another set of new ones - about $25 each from Infiniti dealers on Ebay (a must for me, LOL)
2) Have a go at removing the face, then prying out the orange piece and re-gluing the face back on
3) In some states (like Florida) turn signals MUST show orange or red colour - it's a citation & repair if the PoPo is in the mood.

I think if you get the cover off, you will be able to tell how to get rid of that orange insert. Even if it looks rubbish when you finish, it won't be visible after you re-glue the lens back on it.

06M4.5 and SixLegs did this differently. I want to do it the way they did it. They said it only took them 5 minutes.

I already did that method that you're talking about Larz. It's no good. I have condensation now. I bought my (2) new lenses from Ebay and I've had them sitting here for almost a month now. I just want to do it the right way.

sorry those guys aren't getting back to you on this....some folks don't regularly check the site, so they may not have seen your queries or they could just be ignoring you

based on one of my side turn signal lights that I replaced..
my guess is they took a long, thin drill bit to drill in to the orange piece at a few spots, so that they could break it up into pieces and then shook those bits out of there

why don't you experiment on your cracked open and condensation filled ones? , sounds like your seal wasn't so good.
did you bake them or just use an exacto knife to cut them apart? might use some better adhesive, like the kind they use for headlights instead of just superglue.
The other way condensation might be getting in is through the bulb harness itself. That has a seal that should fit tight against the light housing once it's put back into place and the adhesive/glue/seal has gotten too old as well.

the one I replaced the seal/glue/adhesive seemed to be going bad so it basically fell apart when I removed it from the car. I superglued it back together, but it didn't look good as the other side which seemed to be holding up well, so I bought a pair of replacements.

Thanks @pedsemdoc...
I think they're tired of me asking haha. That's what I was assuming too. That you drill to break it. I just want to know where to drill so I don't crack the lens. But drilling into the orange part seems right. I'd love to practice on my condensed ones but they don't have the orange piece for me to practice on. I do think my choice of glue was no good as well. What did you mean by "bake them"? I just used a razor to open them up originally. I just want to get them done right.

The process by which folks have opened up their headlights is by sticking them in an oven (used/beat up one/not for food) at low temperature 250 degrees or so, for about 15 to 20 minutes to soften up the adhesive so they can be pried apart.
If you YouTube baking headlights or modding headlights, you'll probably see what folks are doing to get the lens apart.

I was assuming that the side turn signal lights used similar adhesive, so baking them might make it easier to pry apart without cutting.
Mind you, you're supposed to put them back in the oven when you apply new adhesive and then apply pressure to seal them up properly once things cool down.

Some headlights use a different adhesive and "baking" them might not work.

Some folks use a heat gun, but the heat applied is much more spot specific and harder to control.

Hopefully that makes sense.

It makes sense. It sounds good but with my luck I'll go to the toilet and come back and my lenses are like charcoal. I like the drill bit route. I just want to do it correctly.
