i tried to do the afc and i cannot get it to work. no matter the settings i use, when ever i come off the throttle to an idle, it just stalls. anyone know how to set up the afc right or any other ways to vent atmosphere on a stock ecu?

thanks.

Welcome to venting on a MAF setup. There's not much you can do to prevent the stalling from a super rich mixture when you atmo vent. The system has already metered the air and sent gas through the injectors. You're letting that air out of the system, so the gas just mixes with what's left and runs super rich.

The options are a blow through MAF with which I'm not familiar with , so I won't comment on what needs to be done. Or convert to a MAP sensor to replace the MAF. Which is outside of the scope of the afc IIRC.

Best option: recirculate

The easiest way to get red of that problem is to recirculate the blow of valve back into the intake.

recirculation is also on my to do list for it is the win. My roommate is getting horrid gas mileage on his GTFour RC for the same reason.

mine only does it if i drive it hard and just push the clutch in from high RPMs and let it idle.but it doesnt do it that much about 3 or 4 times, everytime i drift it.i found another way to keep it from doing it is to slow down with it still in gear untill about 2 grand and then push the clutch in and its better.

OP, If you want to run atmospherically then either run a blow thru, MAP, or stop ricing around at full throttle and letting off so people can hear your BOV. Or maybe you can recirculate...

i dont rice around at full throttle. i could just drive around normal, as long as my bov opens, if i dont brup the throttle lightly as the revs come down around 2k, then it dies. i was going to try to adjust the bov spring so its harder to open, then cruising should be good and it would work at higher boost levels. i would recirculate it, but my bov is by the t/b and its a long run back to the afm. ahhhhhhh.

i've seen ppl move the MAF sensor to the throttle body side. just food for thought.

When will you kids learn? Just recirculate the freakin thing, the car will run better, you don't get soot on your bumper, you get better gas mileage, and you attract less unwanted attention. I just don't get it, there is no legitimate reason to run an atmospheric system on a street car, especially with a stock ECU.

As for blow through setups. Ive seen how long they last. Plan on cleaning your MAFs at least once a month, and if you have any blowby, you will be replacing it on a regular basis. Nissan MAFs were never meant to see pressure, nor were they ever designed to have an old turbo flinging oil at them all day long.

The only time my SR (or anyone elses SR I've worked on) stalled out was when you're at high RPM's and then take the car out of gear. Aka, you're racing stop light to stop light, or revving your **** so people can hear your BOV.

So stop doing that and you wont have a problem.
