Ive done a search on google and here. I thought I've seen it posted but I cant find it. Im painting my S13 today and tomarrow, Inside and out, and Im not sure how to remove the steering shaft that goes from the rack to the steering wheel. Im not really concerned about the shaft in the engine bay, but how do I get the shaft out of the inside of the car?

Fast answers are apriciated because time is of value now.

Just make sure you mark on the where the two shafts separate so you know where to line it up when you put it back and you wheel will still be straight.

alright, i have a related question. i replaced the steering bushing a few months ago and went through the whole ordeal without using any writeup and therefore didn't think to mark the steering shaft. my concern isn't lining up the steering wheel, since no wheel is on til i install my momo, HOWEVER i am concerned about my front wheels if the steering rod is slightly off from the original position, wouldn't it make it so the wheels would turns farther one way and not as much the other way? correct me if i'm wrong and hopefully my question makes sense, but its getting late.

Shouldn't matter.

The steering lock just keep the wheel from turning. It's not a design of the shaft.

As long as your steering rack is centered you should have equal turning left to right.

You just have to center up the steering wheel to the rod.

When I put in my Nardi wheel, it was a tooth off center. When I got it aligned they simply disconnected the shaft from the rack. Make it center and bolted it back down.

ok good to hear. i didn't think i'd have any problems, but my dad said something about it when we were taking the steering rod off of a 56 apache. he's used to working on much older setups, so i didn't think he's concerns would apply to my 240, but it still planted the seeds of doubt
