just want to see how people started there cars....which mods you did first and how it progressed

i really want do rotors and tires first the ones are there are worn out and cr@p tires can't grip for the life of em

then suspension, bushings, struts, springs, sway bar, end links, control arms and so on...

then an intake and a nice cat back but i may do a titanium exhaust custom for now til i decide to go turbo or not with the KA24DE or just do a swap with a sr20 or rb25.....

but then body.....i may just keep it stock but get a CF splitters for the lower lip and on the bumper itself for more downforce....looking for the stock lip that came with this car this one is missing it....maybe a LOW rear CF wing about 2'' off and leading off the trunk...gonna get a friend to custom make somebrackets for it....so far i haven t seen anything out there i like....but gonna use a STI replica CF wing for it.......maybe a 180 x-wing? maybe too small...i ll need to get some measurements on it but possibnly the S15 wing.....if i do the taillight conversion

yeah just wnna see what other people did

if you got pics please post up...visual aids are always best with me....

Well, I'm mod-less but soon that'll be fixed by a nice CA18 that I'm installing myself.I spend the last weekend at a friend's house (BoyWonder) figuring out how the hell to pull my engine and transmission out of my car. With close to no mechanical experience, it was definitely an adventure but with common sense, some goves, and alot of muscle, it's all worked out so far. :)

yea first get everything to operational.

I first did some small bolt ons (intake, headers, exhaust) then i tackled the suspension (coilovers, sway bars, strut brace and stiffer joints) then i un uglied my car but any approach to modification is good none is bad...

Well...my car came with a bad head light (one up one down)....so replaced the motors for both sides...the car was in great shape when i bought it so the next step was to get some wheels, so i got some enkie 17'" rse's..

...My only other mods were intake, and exhaust....but i dont really want to waste money on the 100k plus motor, when i will eventually will go SR anyway....

Other than that, my suspension came in this week, so i will be putting that on this Sat. Hopefully it will help take care of some of the nasty gap!....:note: dont mind the Brandon Mitsubishi Tag cover, lol...I been meaning to get rid of that:)

Please forgive the long-winded rant:Well, I guess it started a month or two after buying the car with me asking a friend of mine about my suspension. I mentioned that the rear end felt awfull bouncy, to the point of it almost landing in half of the next lane on the hiqhway. He pushed on the bumper and it bounced back up immediately after. Blown rear stuts! I figured I would upgrade to adjustables while I was at it, then why not add lower springs too. After installing Koni yellow struts and H&R springs, I took to an (crappy) alignment shop only to find out that my suspension is supposedly not adjustable to correct the 2 degree front and 3 degree rear camber rise. Shiz! So off come the springs. For the next year I search then ask every forum (Club240, Nico, Zilvia) i can find on how to fix this. I order the Eibach front camber correction kit- the damn bolt is smaller than my pinkie finger, I aint usin that. Finally I stumble on Cusco camber adjustable pivot ball mounts and rear upper arms. After 2 months of going back and forth to get the parts that actually fit (you need the "S" plates for standard struts). After spending this valentines day under my favorite red-head Silvia the shiz is all installed. Funny thing as I was removing the inner bolt holding the OEM upper arm the arm kept moving in and out. Fook!, the stock camber is adjustable. So I set the adjustable arm to OEM length, and put the inner arm eccentric bolt at its farthest out position. On presidents day I go for an alignment (NTB w/6mo. warranty) the rear camber is 1.2 degrees per side, absolutely fooking perfect. Ok, the front and rear toe was off and the passenger front camber was off (.5 deg), not a problem adjusting that now. Anyway, I know have almost fully adjustable suspension for AutoX, and spent a little less that going with coilovers. Next project KA24DET

I tore the engine out of the car, bought a new engine, rebuilt it with forged internals etc. built my own turbo kit, and have been working on my non-running car for 9 months now :) My only goal is to beat J Spec Tuner done

I wouldnt consider tires a modification since they are wear parts. First thing I did was strut bars then lsd and then shocks and springs.

My first mod was to go out and buy a 91 coupe with all of the suspension mods in my signature. Then I bought a front clip, did a swap, and tossed on all the mods in the first half of my signature. Now I can't wait to get some new wheels, tires and bigger brakes. After that, a Quiaffe LSD and then the turbo upgrade.

You are wise to want to do the suspension parts first. If I were you, I wouldn't spend big money on fancy tires yet. Just get some good V-rated tires with a reasonable tread wear rating. The money you save in tires will be better spent on other modifications.

When you get the tires, have the shop do a 4 wheel alignment. The alignment will give you a good picture of what shape your suspension is in. With that information, you can decide what parts to replace / upgrade.

exactly.....i would ve guess this would have been the most logical way to go...didn't knwo i actually have to say it....

ex. lookin for new engine mounts since one of them has cracked so i found some nismo ones to take place of.......reasdon why i asked about mods and stuff is to see what my options are....i am not car stupid but i may not know everything there is for the 240/silvias so i just wanna get some ideas....

i own a subaru for 3 years and when i first got it there were no parts for my car at that time.....so i had to import everything from Japan and some from euro.....but i always waited for the best parts to get and the stuff on my car some still no one has yet.....

i know what to do i just need some guidance....

always thanks for the advice....

Quiaffe ? never heard of them....a link for it?

when i looked over the car i noticed the front tires had wear on the inside so i took a closer look at the control arms and notice both the bushing were about to fall out....but also driving the car was pulling to the right....so of course i would have to get it check uped after i replace some of the "seeable" problems...since the rack and pin is leaking i need to swap that out firsbut this is my question......has ANYONE used a didn t rack from a different nissan? that has a tighter turning radius? in my friends impreza we used one from the wrx sti and showed some better response...so i want to knwo if the Jspec maybe has a different type i can get.....

there alot of little things i want to do but do it at once so i get it right....

don't worry about tires i can get almost any tires for cheap.....spec2 t1s azenis etc...rememebr iw ork at a shop....i haven t paid retail in the longest time hahahaha =P plus theres EBay!!!

but tires to me is an important mod even tho its wear.....upgrade my tires from Bridgestone BLOtenzas(stock subaru such a cr@ppee tire) to Pneumant(euro-dunlop) i shaved off 3 seconds my avg time in AutoX in my impreza....i can't wait til i can run the S14 soon....killing some cones!! i did miss the drifting with then BLOtenzas....now its all about the "GA-LIP SU-TYLE LACING *heavy japanese accent*

i want the S14 to handle like that to to a point but i would also like to know and how to control a drift in the RWD just to know how to get in and out of that situation....all i ever drove was AWD so.....this should be fun....

THe only mod that I did so far is my bumper light signals, since there's a lot of "Yield" stop lights here.

But i still have a lot of stuff to fix before I start moding it like new tension rods, brackets and other stuff.

I wont be replacing them with stock parts either. I already bought Nismo brackets and working on getting some kazama tension rods/tie rods. But I'd rather do everything at once so i'll be getting new upper arms/toe control arms and some new sway bars.:thumbup
