How can I talk some sense into this ricer??

Ok well this ricer is my friend and we were talking today about cars. I was explaining to him that I bought a Nissan 240sx and he said that he has a Dodge Neon. I was like ok that cool so what do you plan to do to it first, he said he is gonna get a body kit then an Aluminum spoiler!!!!!

Things that make him a ricer:

1.The Dodge Neon is a 4 DOOR

2. He wants to buy an Aluminum spoiler

3. He is gonna get a body kit before engine mods

4. He wants to buy 2 15" subs for the trunk

5. He wants to buy a 3 1/2" cat back exhaust for a stock motor

6. He wants blue neon lights for under the car, on the dash and in the trunk

How can I talk him out of doing this kind of garbage

He was even tryng to convince me to buy a body kit before I get my intake. sheeesh :rolleyes

your only hope is if he wires the lights up wrong and burns the car to the ground , but this will only slow the enevitable , he will then go and get a honda

Why are you even wasting your time thinking about trying to talk to the guy and change his mind? Obviously he cares more about show than go. More about bump in the trunk, than cams with lumps. Let him do what he wants to do. Not everyone wants a super fast car, and some guys care more about what is going to grab the attention of the girls.

Personally, I'd offer to race him for his upgrade budget so that you can put it to good use. =)

Yeah, you're not going to get very far. I doubt even kicking his arse in a race will work, unless he's the really competitive type. Don't hate on 4 doors, there's plenty of insanely fast cars with 4, even 5 (Audi RS4 vs Ferrari something 0-60, winner RS4) doors. I'm going to be modding a 4 door, does that make me a ricer? My bro's A4 1.8T makes 250 ft/lb of torque, does that make him a ricer? Anyway, time to get off the soapbox. ricers suck

as for my .02 cents

neon's are never cool. and the srt-4 is only 'adequate' in my eyes. but with that kind of mentality he is beyond reasoning with, don't waste your time. the thread's title is a paradox!

i think the kid was meaning a neon 4 door , as oppsed to the now defunct neon coupe , of which i was thinking of buying with the ACR package and running in its class with SCCA on the weekends

As a friend I'm not sure it's wise to tell he's polishing a turd. Afterall it's his car and his money. But you could point out that he will not recoup any of the money he wants to spend ricing when it comes time to sell it, despite how...uh... cool it looks to him now.

because about 99% of 15 inch subs are all thump and no sound quality, if you want something that sounds good, your sub(s) would be no more than 10 inch. My freind has one high quality (eclipse) 10 inch sub in a very small sealed box and it sound better than any other sub i have heard before, and it gets pretty loud too. 15 inch subs are the equivilent of a massive ugly body kit, its just there to grab attention and it makes you look like a jackass trying to show off. At least thats my opinion...

actually when getting into lower sound frequencies, accuracy isn't as important because the human ear is unable to hear a lot of the innacuracies that the sub may be producing. So i'm not saying that its impossible for a loud as hell 15 to sound bad but i am saying that if done properly, a 15 can and will produce the same if not better sound quality at higher decibles. But this kid is propably one of those ricers who'll put the subs in some huge poorly made ported boxes w/ a huge amp so he can turn 'em up so loud that they'll sound like **** and make his trunk rattle.

Well the only reason why I want to have a talk with him is cause he wants to cruise with me and a bunch of my other friends. And I really don't want a rice *** Neon driving with us.....

One of my friends has a 98 Ford Ranger, completely shaved, lowered on 17's with a Magna flow exhaust and intake (more engine mods to come)

Other friend has a 95 Acura Integra RS (100% stock) I'm gonna help him work on some engine mods soon

Other friend has a 2000 Chevy cavalier, on 17's with Intake, exhaust and some other mods

Other friend has a 02 Mitsubishi Lancer.....

so he wants to join up with the crew, but I don't want him to wreck our image.

Well, if your Neon friend is a good guy, then it really shouldn't matter what he drives. FYI: a riced up Cavalier is equivalent to a riced up Neon, so I'm not sure what kind of image damage you're worried about. If he leaves off the ugly wing, then it probably won't look as pathetic.
