I'll explain. We're talking about a very common, small, cheaply made, inexpensive, low end American car that and screams "kid" if you slap on body cladding, and oversized wings. Which car am I talking about? Cavalier OR Neon, take your pick. Very similar cars. Of course you can make either one faster than a Ferrari if you throw enough money at them. You could also make a Yugo fast too. That's not the issue.
There's nothing wrong with modding a cheap car. It's great fun, and if you're on a budget, that's the best way to go. But we're not talking about a group of Ferrari and Lamborghini owners and a guy with a Yugo trying to join in. From what your saying it sounds like you're in a group with different types of inexpensive cars with the common interest of enjoying and improving them
Will his 4 door Neon look dorky with all that junk. Sure. Should you tell him you think it'll look dorky? I don't know. I don't know how strong your friendship is with him. But if you do tell him, be prepared for a negative response, as he won't likely agree you.Taste is subjective. My suggestion is for you to suggest stealth as it is a 4-door car, which is unique within your group. He could think about going in a slightly different direction and still look cool. Suggest going for the upgraded stereo, engine mods, but leave off the wings, body kit and neon lights. There's nothing more cool than a stock looking sedan that kicks butt. A wolf in sheeps clothing. But it's hard to convince someone of going stealth when the rest of your group believes the opposite, (EXCEPT for his car). If not approached right, you could end up sounding like a hypocrite even if your intentions are good.
I hope I made sense. Ok, I'm ready to be flamed.
Good luck.
