a 2000 cavalier on 17s w/ an intake and exhaust is just domestic rice.

I'm stereotyping. I know, but i feel safe saying he's a ricer. Unless he openly admits its for show... but i've only talked to a few people who have admitted it. Others say its still fast w/ their catback and intake or say its gonna be huge eventually. I've never seen anything come of any of it. So yes, i'm being an *******. :icesangel

I'm right with 95% of my pre-judgements. I'll bet on those odds any day. Ricer.

My point is a cavalier on 17 wheels with a fart muffler is not a huge step up from his Neon. I think if Neon Dieon passes on the obnoxious wing he'd probably blend in fine with the other cars in his friend's group.

The group drives around together very rarely (on the odd party we'll all meet up) so, I pretty much just drive which each friend individually so mainly, I don't want the Neon to ruin my image. At the same time it doesn't really matter I guess....... cause girls love rice, so his car may attract more girls than mine would.

And I don't understand how a cavalier on 17's is rice? I only named his main mods, the guy is really good with engines, so he tweaked alot of stuff under the hood.

My freind has one high quality (eclipse) 10 inch sub in a very small sealed box and it sound better than any other sub i have heard before, and it gets pretty loud too. 15 inch subs are the equivilent of a massive ugly body kit, its just there to grab attention and it makes you look like a jackass trying to show off. At least thats my opinion...

not ture, i have a 12" sub and it sounds better then most 10" (for the music i play) 10" subs are more for rock music and 12" - 15" is for rap (IMO) but yes most 15" sound like crap because ppl that get them get a crappy amp to power them (they take alot of power) if the system is done right then 15" can be vary loud.. but for me i like 12"'s because they are good with both rock and rap.. any system can sound like crap it just depends on what u buy..

I'll explain. We're talking about a very common, small, cheaply made, inexpensive, low end American car that and screams "kid" if you slap on body cladding, and oversized wings. Which car am I talking about? Cavalier OR Neon, take your pick. Very similar cars. Of course you can make either one faster than a Ferrari if you throw enough money at them. You could also make a Yugo fast too. That's not the issue.

There's nothing wrong with modding a cheap car. It's great fun, and if you're on a budget, that's the best way to go. But we're not talking about a group of Ferrari and Lamborghini owners and a guy with a Yugo trying to join in. From what your saying it sounds like you're in a group with different types of inexpensive cars with the common interest of enjoying and improving them

Will his 4 door Neon look dorky with all that junk. Sure. Should you tell him you think it'll look dorky? I don't know. I don't know how strong your friendship is with him. But if you do tell him, be prepared for a negative response, as he won't likely agree you.Taste is subjective. My suggestion is for you to suggest stealth as it is a 4-door car, which is unique within your group. He could think about going in a slightly different direction and still look cool. Suggest going for the upgraded stereo, engine mods, but leave off the wings, body kit and neon lights. There's nothing more cool than a stock looking sedan that kicks butt. A wolf in sheeps clothing. But it's hard to convince someone of going stealth when the rest of your group believes the opposite, (EXCEPT for his car). If not approached right, you could end up sounding like a hypocrite even if your intentions are good.

I hope I made sense. Ok, I'm ready to be flamed.

Good luck.

I think this whole thread is gay. Who cares if he wants a big *** double decker wing. Its his car. IS this a car club or a racing team??? I doubt someone is racing ina Ford Ranger...with shaved ****...LOL. I would be more embarrased to have a truck in my "club" than a "riced" out Neon. Besides the wing (which I think is tacky on all cars), there is nothing he is doing out of the ordinary. I plan on pimpin out my 4 door Altima. I swear some people get WAAAAY to caught up in this go over show ricer crap. Not everyone wants a fast car. I get tired of driving my 240 around sometimes. Sure it is faster than 80% of the cars in my city and boost is fun, but sometimes I like riding in style (well as much style as you can get in an Altima). I like cruising around with more than one friend who can actually sit int ehback seat. I say let him do what he wants. Stop being so self righteous

Aguy by my house was selling his 98 Max 4000 and said that he'll go as low as 3500. The best part was that it is manual, 78,893 miles, and black. My father is giving me his auto 95 white Max, but I wanted that one. He said no and now it just about to be sold. This sux.

I saw it too, but that vision dissapeared when I found out how much it is gonna cost. I wonder...can you look into my future again and tell me if some one is going to pay for it or if some money will be coming my way sometime soon. Because if thats the case I'll start collecting parts now.

It really depends on the quality of the subwoofer, my freinds 10" eclipse sub is great for anything with a pounding beat (techno, rap, etc.), and can still play the low stuff on classical music perfectly. The magnet on this thing weighs like 22 pounds or something like that and it drives a aluminum cone. It has a very high RMS (500watts RMS 1200w peak) and he only uses it at 300watts RMS and it kills my ears after being in the car for more than 10 minutes. I dont know why you would want anything bigger, because all it does it annoy the people in the car next to you who dont prefer the same type as music as you. Hell i got a crappy MTX 10" in a ported box for free and i tryed it out on my 200W peak (100 RMS) amp and it was got louder than i would ever want to listen to music at.

I'm going to have to put a permanent apology in my sig for late replies :rolleyes. Man, my mom would have a heart attack if I drove like that with her in the car; I would never hear the end of it :rant.

I am kind of with Spec V on this one. If its his car, let him do what he wants. just dont go ricing out your 240sx!

sure, it may be rice. If hes gonna get a body kit, a wing, neons, and a fart can then leave the stock steel wheels on it, then slap him. some people are into show, some people are into go. I'll take go any day of the week.

*sigh* when will I sell this SAAB so I can go get the LD28 for my 3.0L L6 stroker? my 240Z is calling my name...

Didn't want to start a new thread so I thought I'd relay a story from my mechanic here. Some lady had just bought her sone a brand new Denali gigantic freakin' truck. Said she'd pay him like 4grand to throw on all the new crap she'd just bought along with it. (man, why don't my parents have ungodly sums of money to throw at me?) He gladly accepted the challenge to get it done by the end of the day. Eventually he found out it was for the kids 1/2 birthday!Later, the kid came back to ask him to install a radar detector inside the ash tray since he didn't smoke. Sure I'll take your money (and to be honest, why not hide the detector?), but later came to the realization that the angle of the detector would not pick up anything coming from a squad car (360 degree arc- not sphere). So he told him that basically he could do it but the piece would do nothing but turn on and light up.

Ricer's response: So... It'll light up?
