Hello All,

It seems as though my hood support struts have failed on my '94 Q and I am getting tired of holding the hood up with my head while I check the oil. Has anyone found an after market strut that can be made to work?

If there is no after market struts, does anyone have a working set of OEM struts for sale?

I am also looking for an under engine finisher (plastic cover on bottom of engine bay).

If you have any of these avalible, drop me an e-mail with the details.

I replaced my struts successfully using aftermarket ones from Autozone for about $40 ea. Joe at Infiniti of Scottsdale had the OEM ones for $200 ea. Here are some threads discussing it.

be sure that when you install them, you install them on the hood first, then onto the firewall.

They can be a total PITA to compress.

check out ebay - some struts up for auction right now:

Item #140155227134. $70. I've bought stuff for my 93 off ebay and never had a problem. Hope this helps.

I got a nice set from a parted out Q. Just have to be patient.

I might have one of those splash shields in fair condition. I'll check.

I got mine just a couple of weeks ago on ebay for $49.95 and they work great for me. Try this site http://stores.ebay.com/Hatch-Arms-4-Less. They are considerably tighter than the ones I replaced. They are Gabriel shocks.

Autozone has only one choice, though they show two types on the web page the cheaper choice is no longer available. They are more like $80.00 for the pair.Good Luck

No Wes, I left the car. I had them do the front brakes pads (labor only), replace the battery cable and the shocks. They charged me 68.00 so I was just happy to get it back for such a small amount. When I go back in I will inquire.
