What folly you speak.
Hash was talking power, so I brought in the next side of the equation.
No. Power helps in straight lines only. Losing weight helps everywhere. The 350Z is NOT nimble, especially when compared to the S2000...
I wasn't really *trying* to say either of these, and I certainly wasn't attempting to detail what, specifically, an S2k would have to do to close the power gap with the Z33 or the Z33 to close the handling gap with the S2k.
My point was more as follows:
A Z33, in my eyes, is sort of like a Corvette but "less so". There are a million half-GT half-sports car vehicles out there, and the Z33 and C6 (and tons of other cars) all fall into this class. Modding a Z33 makes sense because you can just give it "more" of anything and thus elevate your modded car to compete with ever-more-capable cars within this huge hierarchy of multitaskers.
A Z33 is a C6 is a Maserati GranTurismo is a Ferrari 575......just more and more so the farther up you get, but they all have more or less the same design philosophy engineered to different price points.
An S2000 is totally different. It is very difficult to add ANYTHING useful or needed to an S2000 without totally abandoning the design philosophy, as it is so totally different and application-specific.
If you're buying an S2000 and thinking "gee, it'll be perfect once I make it a better straight-line car by adding more power", you're completely missing the point of the car and shouldn't buy one at all.
The S2K is already the best car in the world at what it does, the only real point of modding it beyond rubber, brakes, and other little stuff is if you want it to be something different from what it is.
I'm just trying to illustrate that the cars are in no way REAL competitors to one another. You should know whether you want one or the other because they're incredibly different. If you don't know, then you either haven't thought about what you want enough or you haven't driven one/both of them. If you know what you want and you've experienced both, you won't be wishy-washy about it. It will be an obvious choice.
