I think that both are astoundingly good from the factory.

There is VERY little that can be done to actually make an S2000 better, at least in terms of making it better at what it's supposed to be good at (i.e. boost need not apply).

I mean, maybe coilovers and LSD tuning, tires of course, brake compounds, but it is DAMN capable right off the factory floor.

The 350Z makes a little more sense to mod. Boosting a Z33 makes sense....boosting an S2k never made sense to me.

But yeah, give me S2k + Factory HT + single exhaust + tires + new pads and I'd be just about fine.
It's WAY easier to add power to the S2000 than it is to take weight off the lardass 350Z.

Hash never said anything about 350z weight?

Why try to take off a bunch of weight? Add more power. A Z33 is fairly nimble as is. It's no S2K though.

I'd get an S2K without having to think.

Z33's are pigs....very overweight...

more of a GT than the S2000....needs more power/less weight

I vote for the Premium Lemans Blue 370z. I think it looks sick. But I guess if i had to choose a 350 or s2k it would probaly still be the z but my friend has a pretty sic s2k. So when are you picking up your choice?

What folly you speak.

Hash was talking power, so I brought in the next side of the equation.

No. Power helps in straight lines only. Losing weight helps everywhere. The 350Z is NOT nimble, especially when compared to the S2000...

A 350z is nimble enough. He doesn't want a go kart.

Maybe it might not be to you though, because you're a rotard, but it's not THAT bad.

AZ, youve driven like 100 miles in your life buddy....No offense, but you dont know what nimble is....you have no experience driving nor driving different cars...I assume you can read, and have read and are knowledge about cars, bit you have no perspective....

OF COURSE you guys aren't going to say that a 350Z is nimble. You ride motorcycles right? I'm sure any normal car feels like a boat to you.

Nimble is defined by the driver. That is all.

Unless this guy is serious about tracking his car, a 350z will be NIMBLE enough. How "nimble" does a car have to be to handle EVERYDAY TRAFFIC.

Btw, did this guy even say he wanted to take his car to the track?

If this is the case, why is he looking at these cars and not a Sebring??

Nimble is a realtive thing, this is true....but nimbleness isnt not defined by the driver, its defined by equipment and machine...

that is an assinine statement...

and riding motorcycles has nothing to do with my logic...my logic is based on years and years of driving experience...and racing/track days doesnt hurt either...at least for really feeling braking points and handling characteristics

Yes, compared to most vehicles, the 350Z is very nimble...but compared to an S2000, it barely stacks up

The two-seat 350Z weighs as much or more than my 5 seat wagon!

Overweight, overweight, overweight. If there was something to show for it, maybe. But the 350Z has a terribly cheap and flimsy interior.

Its odd how a lot of people that bring this up between (especially between these two cars) are surprised when they see the math.

S2000 ('00 - '03 AP1) Curb Weight 2809 HP 237 350Z ('03 -' 05 Touring) Curb Weight 3247 HP 287

S2000 11.85 pounds per point of horsepower350Z 11.31 pounds per point of horsepower

The 350Z comes out ahead in the power to weight ratio department. Not by much but its certainly not the pig in a tracksuit that many want to make it out to be. Keep in mind that I also used the weight from the heaviest Z and the non-RevUp VQ, so the gap could be even wider. Certainly the S2K is more nimble, but unless your local streets are laid out like a gymkhana course a Z is more than nimble enough.

There there's the matter of torque...the S2000 is a gutless wonder. A stock KADE puts out more than the S2000. By most accounts the Z gets better fuel mileage too even with the S2K's lower weight and smaller mill, thought if MPG is the goal here I don't think either of these cars are really what you're looking for.

I test drove both of these, plus a Boxster (and even an MR2S, just because). The S2K is a nice weekend car and great to toss around a track but you've got to keep it wound up to get any appreciable power out of it, its cramped, and its a little noisy. The Z is much more livable on a daily basis.

And again, s2k without hesitation.

Lighter, looks better, sounds better, feels better, DRIVES better, and so on.And I'm sure the s2k is relatively cheaper no?

different opinions.

I would still be satisfied with a 350z.

Actually, I would be delighted.

I'd get rid of my Explorer and buy a Lotus.

Then I would block the roads off and call some friends.

That's correct. The uninspired 350Z weighs as much as my WAGON (as previously mentioned), and the pavement ruining beast that is the Viper.

Where does the weight COME from? Where does it go? Who knows.

I've cast my vote for a turbo Miata (or one of FM's new LS1 kits!)
